Destiny's Song

A Rite of Passage

M.G. Laskey
She won't make it. She will soon be dead
Words such as these,Fill the soul with dread
A foreboding, a feeling of despair
A hint of death lingers in the air
Is it premonition or is it fear
There is a familiarity of the occasion
A knowledge of atonement
In what just may be her final moments
Others are so sure her decision is wrong
They know nothing of her hearts song
When the Lord takes her home and she is gone
The deepest secret she holds will be told
This world was never in her heart she knew
When her destiny was completed she'd depart
She is not defeated, she's met her fate
A happier soul in the thereafter
Will not be found now or ever after.
