"Area Code "376" has not been allocated for use in the US or Cananda."

Isn't it great to know that our caller ID's are virtually useless these days?

I also discovered that these companies will do everything in their power to get you to verbally say the words "Yes" or "OK", which they will have recorded. They will then attach this statement wherever they like in the recording, making it sound like you agreed to the loan. As you may or may not know, every person's voice is unique, just like a finger print, and these companies know it. If you say these words and they have a recording of it, there is no denying that you didn't agree to whatever they say. So, beware! Being polite or being "smart" by not giving out personal inforation (or even 'verifying' information) might not be your biggest worry after all! In our case, the scam caller from 376-781-3264 already had some information but needed more. I didn't indulge him.

We also discovered that the goal of these companies isn't necessarily to get you to agree to a loan, per se, but rather they want to get the "initiation" or "filing" fees from you that are associated with the loan. Many of these scam online loan companies will state (in the exceedingly small print, on page 10 of a 20 page disclosures document) that fees will be charged no matter if you are approved or not. So, heaven forbid if you accidentally or mistakenly hit that OK button or say Yes into the phone, you've just dooped yourself out of whatever fee they say is necessary, and legally so thanks to some loopholes in the law. After all, its not their fault that you 'failed to read the disclosures before agreeing to the contract.' They will also attempt to automatically debit your banking account for these and other fees, including membership fees for a savings club.

Ultimately, thanks to the scam calls from 376-781-3264 and other related numbers, as well as the scam emails, we felt that our financial security was deeply threatened. We went to the bank immediately and closed our account and opened a new one. My husband has now learned that nobody, not even a reputable brick-and-mortar payday loan company, can be trusted when it comes to shopping online for a payday loan. And since we didn't do business with anyone except for Advance America Cash Advance, its obvious who gave out our sensitive personal information. Thanks you guys, we appreciate that!

If you're a victim of this type of fraud, what should you do? Well, I'm not a financial expert, but since they have your banking info I wouldn't take any chances. It might be a pain in the rear end, but go and close your account and open a new one. Otherwise, even if there's no money in the account you will be socked with NSF fees from the bank, and the company will keep on trying over and over again till they do eventually get your money, often more than once. Your whole paycheck could be gone in a matter of hours! Consider this a hard lesson learned... do not engage in online payday loan applications, its just too risky! Otherwise, you can expect to get scam phone calls from 376-781-3264, too!
