Look for possible stressors in your romantic relationship. Consider the things many couples disagree about such as handling of finances, raising children, in-law and friendship concerns. Address any issue you think may lead to conflict or is presenting an underlying problem in your relationship.
Watch for signs of distraction in your romantic partner. She may get a faraway look, not answer you immediately or forget details of what you talked about easily. All of these are signal there is something bothering her and you better find out what it is and deal with it.
Listen for snapping or sarcastic remarks. There may be anger lying below the surface. He may give you short answers or indicate by his tone that he is unhappy or feeling ill-natured. Usually, there will be a root cause which has nothing to do with what you are initially discussing. There is probably a problem you are not aware of.
Ask a mutual friend if they have noticed any differences in your relationship. Tell them you need to know anything they have ascertained so you can deal with it for the betterment of your relationship.
Communicate on a daily basis. Even if your partner makes an excuse such as tiredness, you should insist on at least a few minutes of conversation a day.
Address any inkling you have that there may be a problem as soon as you have it. Talk it over with your partner calmly and resolve it as quickly as you can.
