The first one is that your baby might experience is the common cold. Just like adults, the signs that your baby is suffering from the common cold are a runny or stuffy nose, fever, sneezing, watery eyes, coughing, loss of appetite or possibly difficulty in being able to breathe. The treatment for the common cold that your baby is experiencing is to have him or her consume plenty of liquids which can include fruit juices as well as water. If you see that the symptoms continue to endure, then you should contact a doctor about this.
Another illness that a baby might experience is constipation. This will occur if your baby's stools are dark and bloody. Again a great treatment for constipation is to give the baby fruit juices and you can do this during the time that they are not being given their regular feeding. Be sure to ask your doctor though when your baby is allowed to consume fruit juices before doing any of this.
Diarrhea might be another problem your baby will face at one time or another. Signs that your baby might have diarrhea are when the stool is green, watery and appears to be loose. This is vital to pay attention to this. A baby should not have diarrhea for more than 3 days. If it continues longer than that, get in touch with your doctor straight away. A treatment that your doctor might advise for diarrhea, is the oral re-hydration solutions. This helps to hydrate your baby and it is quite easy to do.
Convulsions are probably the most terrifying for any parent to see. Signs include blank stares, rolling of the eyes, spasms, twitching of the body or a high fever. Of course, if parents witness this, they should get their baby to a doctor at once.
Other signs to determine if your baby might be suffering from some type of sickness includes a high temperature, agitated, skin that looks to be flushed, irritability, vomiting, no appetite, hoarseness, spasms, convulsions or watery, loose and bloody stools. If your baby has difficulty in breathing or is breathing fast, you should get him or her to a doctor right away.
