I am convinced that one of the best ways to start a detox diet, is to start by incorporating that diet with a colon cleanse. The use of prescription drugs and other chemically based products that enter our bodies slows down the nutrient absorbing process that our body would normally do on its own. Any chemicals used in drugs or processed foods stick to the walls of your intestinal tract, and prevent your body from absorbing those nutrients, thus slowing down our body's healing and regeneration processes. This brings about headaches, constipation, heartburn and many other problems. As a reaction, most will just call their physician and then they get a borage of more drugs or suppositories to speed up their elimination process. The ending result is frustration and the fact that now your body has become dependent upon laxatives to solve the problem. This obviously creates a vicious cycle.
I highly recommend the combination colon cleanse and parasite cleanse from Dr. Natura, along with a raw fruit and vegetable diet. You can find this cleanse on www.drnatura.com. I have used this cleanse twice in combination with a detox diet. When starting the diet, I did a juice fast a few days prior to get my body adjusted and prepared for a lighter diet along with the new supplements. The juice fast is a good way to give your body nutrients and rest the digestive system so that when you start to detox the process will kick in right away. A simple detox diet you can follow really has no name, other than eating mostly raw fruits and vegetables, and only grilled or baked chicken for your protein. This will help your system start to flush all the toxins from your body, and you will begin to cleanse your system naturally without the use of laxatives and other prescription drugs. So, if you can eat more fruits and vegetables and increase your fiber intake why would you need to see a doctor for more laxatives? As you can see, cutting back on doctors visits will put you in a better position to buy more whole foods, and get the vitamins and minerals you need. We are able to grow these plants and nutrients using our own soils, so why are we being told this is unhealthy?
The reality is that the FDA has tried to hush the rants of those like Kevin Trudeau, along with the results of the movie Food inc. These sources both talk about how our food is toxic when mass produced and grown by farmers who use growth hormones on our chickens and cattle. So, if our food wasn't grown or managed in this fashion we wouldn't have such a dyer need to cleanse and it would quiet the controversy. Cleansing your body, and detoxifying your body is nothing less than a healthy idea. The cleanse I recommend from Dr. Natura is over a period of thirty days. You do have to be careful with a lot of the ones you find at GNC and in other retailers, as they typically promote the use of a stimulant to simply induce multiple bowel movements for a very short period of time. Anything that is healthy shouldn't really make you uncomfortable, it should be quite the opposite.
The second detox diet I highly suggest most should try at least once, is the HCG diet. The FDA says this doesn't work. I want to ask how many of their members have done it. The HCG diet was discovered and perfected over time by Dr. Simeons in the 1950's. He had many patients who were eating well and exercising but were still somewhat obese. So, he made it his life's mission to figure out how to cure it once and for all. With the HCG diet, you give yourself a small injection of the pregnancy hormone, and follow a low calorie diet for 21 days. This will help your body reset its hypothalamus gland which controls your ability or inability to lose weight. The HCG seems to make your fat stores work properly, meaning your metabolism is working at its optimum level. While following the low calorie diet, your body literally burns thousands of calories a day of all the excess fat your body is storing. So, your body cannot ever go into starvation mode. How is this a detox diet?
The body is detoxified during this process as you are eating only fruits, vegetables and meat. The meat consists of chicken, some white fish and shrimp and water, coffee and tea only. The body can start getting rid of excess fluid which in itself can be toxic. Excess fluid in the body can cause you heart problems and put a lot of pressure on your organs. With two quarts of water a day suggested by the diet protocol your body will flush all the excess toxins from your system. This diet is perfect to start the detoxification process. Herbal teas and green teas are recommended too which offer many benefits. A great detox supplement during this diet is Organic Rooibos tea. According to Dr. Leonid Macheret from Life Path in Cincinnati, Ohio, it has been discovered that Rooibos is actually pulling toxins from the body even having been consumed in moderation. I just ordered some Organic Rooibos Superior from Upton Tea, and while it isn't the most flavorful tea, the benefits will far outweigh the taste.
The other great detox feature with this diet for me, was the relief from a sinus infection. Without any drugs or nasal spray, within about five days most of my symptoms were gone. No more sinus headache or pressure behind my ears. For me this was a huge benefit because I always get horrible sinus headaches. Part of the reason you experience this type of relief is because you have no breads or pasta. Without the starches and sugars your sinuses and allergies are less aggravated. With the weather we have here in the Midwest it's hard for those with sinus problems to brave the changing of the seasons. With using products that have little or no gluten all those sore throats, headaches and runny bloody noses will cease.
All in all, a detox diet is not always necessarily called a detox diet by the FDA, but from a holistic view the best way to detox is by these methods, and these forms of eating. Diet in a sense is simply a way of life. If you can change the way you eat, you will most definitely change the way you live.
