Detoxification Diets for Anyone

Do you think you need to detoxify? We have all heard of detoxification in cases of an individual addicted and withdrawing from drugs or alcohol. Usually this person goes to a professional facility with medical supervision.

However, most of us take in toxins of various kinds in the course of our daily lives, whether it be in prepared food preservatives, greasy fast food, the caffeine in our coffee, or over-the-counter medications. Many people participate in detoxification processes on a regular basis to purify their bodies and rid themselves of these ordinary toxins. Others seek to lose weight in a healthy way through these methods.

One should always remember to take a multivitamin when fasting regardless of the method used. The vitamin can be mixed with liquid or taken in a tablet form. Also make sure to receive a supply of antioxidants. Q10 and Vitamin E are highly recommended. Green tea or certain juices are also excellent in this regard, whatever fasting method you prefer.

Juice fasting is a popular method of detoxification, because the person is still assured an adequate supply of enzymes and nutrients. Making your own fruit and vegetable juices with a blender is a great idea, because the pulp helps keep the digestive tract moving.

A raw food diet can provide an effective way to cleanse the system without such a loss of appetite satisfaction. Nuts provide a good source of protein to supplement raw vegetables and fruits. Consuming baked chicken would not hurt this process. Dairy products or anything greasy or starchy would slow or halt detoxifications, so those items must be avoided entirely when on a raw food regime.

Honey and lemon juice are a common method of fasting and detoxification. Nonclarified honey is still a great source of nutrients, and so is the lemon juice.

It should be noted that continuing exercise is an important part of detoxification, in order to stimulate the flow of oxygen through the lympathic system. Taking part in long, brisk walks or other aerobic exercise will keep up energy levels and aid in the entire process.

Detoxification through an intake of water alone can upset electrolyte balance and should be supplemented with a glass of fruit juice, multivitamin and essential oil supplements.

A simple vegetarian diet can also aid in detoxification. However, remember that any cooked starches such as potatoes will slow the process.

Colonic irrigation and enemas may be used during detoxification, but caution should be used. If enemas are used improperly or overused, the normal bacterial content of the intestine could be disturbed. You want the ability to go back to normal elimination following the fasting process.

A properly trained homeopath can be consulted to assist in the detoxification process. Herbal remedies, acupuncture, and various cleansing formulas are available through the homeopath or in many health product stores.

The main thing to remember when fasting or detoxifying is to continue to provide nutrients to your system.

Getting the toxins out can make your body feel better all over. Here's to a safe and healthy process!
