Recently though, thanks to the magic of the search engines available on the internet, I've come across a wonderfully simple method for not only detoxification of my gastrointestinal system but also a wonderful way to "kick-start" my plans to lower my daily starchy carbohydrate intake.
Now I get the honor of sharing it with you! Before I do however, please do not consider this any sort of medical advice, as I am not a doctor nor even a licensed nutritionist. If you're more comfortable consulting with your favorite medical professional first; then by all means DO SO.
As with any positive and productive effort it takes discipline (but what good thing doesn't right?). Within the first few hours of your first day you'll find it's not all that difficult.
You too can find your way towards great health now, literally almost overnight, and there are no pills to take, nasty tasting potions to chug, or other weird and exotic rituals to perform.
It's as simple as an apple!
For those of you who are allergic to or may not like apples, feel free to replace the word "apple" in this presentation with any other fresh, high-water-content, raw fruit or vegetable such as celery or maybe pears.
Eat nothing but apples the first part of the day until lunchtime. Eat as many as you like and all you want up until noon. Fore-swear the traditional breakfast on this particular day and avoid snacking on anything but apples for this one day.
Then, for lunch, eat whatever you like as long as it's 50% or more green leafy vegetables. Personally I like to scramble eggs and wrap them in any sort of fresh lettuce. Baked fish wrapped in raw spinach is pretty good too. But you're a fairly creative person. You'll come up with some awesome recipes of your own. Just make sure that what you have for lunch is at least half green, crunchy, leafy vegetables.
One or two hours after lunch, and until bedtime, go back to the apples. Again eating as many as you like and all you want. It takes a little bit of discipline and effort. But a much wiser, and much slimmer, friend of mine once pointed out that while discipline may weigh many pounds; regret weighs tons!
Doing this has a triple effect on you. First, you get the naturally occurring water within the fruit. It's been proven, time and again, that dehydration contributes to fatigue. Most of my fellow Americans seem to live on a diet of only around 12% high-water-content fruits and /or vegetables. And that's just asking for trouble. Secondly you're getting a healthy dose of good fiber. This will aid you in eliminating at least some, if not all, of the plaque built up within your colon. This gives your body an opportunity to process out many other toxins as most of the waste in your body is processed that way. This is probably the main reason high-fiber diets are recommended for prevention of cancer. Third, and finally, the brain only operates on glucose. This is the type of sugar your body converts much of your diet into. Fructose (fruit sugar) is quickly and very easily converted into glucose (especially when fruit is eaten alone). So since your brain is finally getting something of what it wants and needs you'll find your mood, attitude, and thought processes being much smoother.
I'd like to also add that I too love my coffee and I have for years. But at, the very least for this day, pass on the coffee. Have an apple or two first. When I first tried this I was a little afraid of the headaches that I expected to have from the caffeine withdrawals. But instead of suffering I found that I felt just way too good to feel bad. It was very refreshing and energizing. It was much easier than I thought it would be. I'm now of the mind that most addictions are comprised mostly of unfounded fears.
Also you might want to try this, at least the first time, on a day when you're not due to be on the job for a day or two. When your body's cleaning itself out through the colon; what room in the house do you expect to find yourself in? Yup. However, most employers might be understanding that you need a little extra time if you just talk to them in private first and not be too graphic. They might even be interested in this method too after they see your results!
This method has been shown to be so safe, easy-to-do, and effective that some Russian athletes do it every day during training. Some have even been doing it almost every day for years!
My personal favorite benefit of this method though is that I no longer wake up tired. Since my body's not processing nearly as much digesting food overnight; I'm able to actually rest while I sleep. Most folks don't realize just how much work it is for their intestines do do all of that work.
If you ever get tired of apples (it could happen I guess); try other vegetables or fruits. Mix it up. Just make sure that whatever "core" food you use is fresh, raw, and unadulterated. This is crucial because cooking, or mixing with other ingredients, of fruit changes nearly the entire chemical makeup of the fruit.
