Developing Dynamic Leadership Skills

Logan Banner
In a society where it is easier to get lost in a crowd than to stand out from one, good leaders are far and few in between. This is because good leaders know how to generate an emotional connection with people. They know how to attract and inspire people toward a common cause. Good leaders equip and guide others helping them make better choices even when they are not personally present.

For Example: A poor Leader may use intimidation as their means of persuading others. The intimidation factor may get short term results. Employees or supporters may try to earn favor with "The Boss" by avoiding penalties, but in the leader's absence motivation weakens, performance suffers and focus is lost.

This is because there is no emotional connection.

People are more likely to perform for somebody they respect and admire "not wanting to let them down" even in the leader's absence. A successful leader knows how to lead through influence, and understands that people prefer to do things for their own reasons. Performance improves dramatically when people are given the chance to identify their own goals, and the freedom to choose the best way to achieve them.

The characteristics of a true leader are:

* The ability to trust and inspire others.

* The ability to motivate and encourage others.

* The ability to direct and guide others.

* Excellent interpersonal skills.

Do you have what it takes to be a dynamic leader? Perhaps you have one or two of the characteristics mentioned above? Even if you only have one of these traits through proper education and conditioning you can become the leader you've always dreamed of.

Start with self-leadership by focusing on the man (or woman) in the mirror. Begin to observe and get things in order in your own life first, before leading others. Let's face it, if you can't lead yourself who else can you lead? Set a good example by being someone that others would want to respect and look up to. Also, remember to always stay true to yourself and your vision. If you are not confident and don't believe in yourself you will never get others to believe in you or your vision.

Secondly, start observing the way you interact with others, then make a conscious effort to work on your weak areas. Remember, dynamic leaders are not born they are created through disciplined lifestyles. Embrace these principles and you are well on your way to becoming a dynamic leader.
