Fitness is the Key to Becoming a Top Level Player

Frank Girard
Soccer is an extremely fast paced game that requires speed, strength and agility. Developing these three qualities can be extremely difficult if the proper training techniques are not applied. To be a successful soccer player you must have the endurance to withstand 90 minutes of a game. Along with this endurance you also need to have the burst of speed necessary to beat the final defender and go to goal. Once you develop these attributes you will be on your way to becoming a successful soccer player.

Developing strong muscles will help you to strike the ball with more power and to increase your maximum speed. Strong muscle fibers also help to develop stability and a sense of balance in your game. The best way to develop strong muscles is through a carefully planned weight training program. As a soccer player you do not necessarily want big muscles, but you want toned muscles. The most efficient way to get toned muscles is by lifting moderately heavy weights. You should lift a weight that you can lift ten times where the last few repetitions seem nearly impossible. Although, You cannot develop muscle without eating the proper foods on a daily basis.

The most important part of being a successful soccer player is taking care of your body and eating the right foods. To build muscle you must eat foods that are high in protein because this is what your muscle needs to repair itself and grow. Some foods that are high in protein are chicken, meat, as well as many types of fish. By eating the proper foods you will ensure that your body is ready to go on game day.

Along with strength training and eating right it is also extremely important to be a quick player. Two types of muscle fibers exist within your body, these two types of muscle fibers are fast-twitch fibers and slow-twitch fibers. Fast-twitch fibers are responsible for agility and speed while slow-twitch fibers are responsible for the overall strength of a particular muscle. Speed and agility can be developed by doing short sprints and even going through a speed ladder.

Soccer is perhaps the most difficult sport is the world to master because of the high level of fitness that it requires. Being fit will give you a substantial advantage over your opponents because they will not be able to keep up with you. If you want to make it to the professional level as a soccer player you must first develop a high level of fitness. By eating right and weight training consistently you will be on the path to developing a high level of fitness and becoming a professional soccer player.
