If you go to the home of poor people, what is the very first thing you see? Probably the biggest television they can afford and obvious absence of a library facility which can actually facilitate their journey from poverty to instant wealth. Now here is a question for you. Did the owners of large homes become wealthy and then buy the books? Or did they buy the books, read and applied the knowledge, and then became wealthy? I think the answer is quite obvious. People buy the books, study and apply them, become increasingly proficient and it eventually paid off very well.
To build a successful life, you must build your library. The library is the "central bank" of knowledge for research growth and development. "to add a library to a house is to make the house a living suite". I consider the library as a good way to life long learning. Learning is a life long adventure and must continually involve your ability to analyze and improve upon the ways you learn. We must never stop learning and implementing the things we learn for proper and critical thinking. The difference is between those who know more versus those who know less.
Science is the manufacturing process of converting raw human talents (resources) to finished products for wealth creation. Science makes people responsive to change. Studies have shown that people with intelligence i.e., critical thinking are generally healthier, wealthier and live longer. Your earn-ergy i.e., your earning ability is in direct proportion to your learning ability and capacity building. Science is the best preparation for being able to adapt in a changing world. As the economy shifts, people and societies who are appropriately scientific will tend to do the best. The premium that society will pay for skill and specialized knowledge is going to climb. So my advice is to get a good scientific knowledge and then to keep on learning. Acquire new interests and skill through your life time. The bible equally says in proverbs 22:28: "do you see a man skillful in his craft? He shall stand before the kings and not before mere man". Have you observed that there is a difference between a professor and a professional? While the professor is a man of knowledge, a professional are pro-active people. Skill is the practice of knowledge for professional competence.
One way to improve your life, career and the company you are going to work for is to become more skilled, better trained and better educated. You increase your luck and the odds of success in your favour by continually seeking and gathering as many new ideas and insights as you can. One of the biblical laws of success says..."seek and you shall find whatever it is you are searching for". It is only a matter of time, what you are looking for is looking for you too: you shall one day meet and grab it.
Reading and researches are the ways and keys to expanding and broadening your view and knowledge. You attract goodness by the quality of your thinking and the quality of your critical thinking is determined by your commitment to continuous learning which begins with birth and ends with death. A book written by an expert is valuable. You can buy a book full of practical proven ideas that someone else has taken almost thirty years to learn and another two to three years to write and publish. For the price of a book you can get the knowledge that may have cost someone else a lifetime of experience and thousands of money to accumulate. One good idea is that a book can positively change the whole cause of your life.
The priority today, I believe is to empower and exercise our minds by learning and adopting critical thinking because only with these super skills can one cope with the growing change and complexity in today's global economy and become employable and economically independent.
What you don't know can hurt you and can actually hold you down. No wonder successful men and women are always searching for new information and ideas. Leaders I must maintain are readers. Always be among the first to know.
