Dewey's Pizza is a pizzeria that offers charm and uniqueness. When I was invited to go I was skeptical about it being unique because pizza is pizza, but Dewey's Pizza was able to prove me wrong. There are a few Dewey's locations in the United States.

There are two locations in the Greater Cleveland area. One is in the Cleveland Heights area and the other one is in Lakewood. The one that I went to was in Cleveland Heights. The address is : 2194 Lee Rd, Cleveland Heights, OH, 44118. Their phone number is 216-321-7355. Their website which offers their hours, items they sell, menu items, and a history of their restaurant is at: http://deweyspizza.com

The pizzeria offers an environment that is always busy. No matter the time of year the restaurant wil usually be pretty crowded. If you do not feel like sitting and waiting in the restaurant, you can order for carryout. The wait is well worth it. It seems like once people try Dewey's they come back repeatedly as the pizza is so delicious.

The pizzeria offers salads, calzones, pizza, desserts, and many other tempting menu items. The price of the items is very moderate. Expect to pay a little more for pizza than you would at a chain but expect that the pizza will be well worth it with fresh toppings and a chef that tosses the dough.

The group I went with started off with a salad. Salads come in small and large. Small serves one to two people and large serves three to four. These salads are pretty big. The restaurant is more than accomodating for guests that have special food needs like being vegetarian. Our group was mostly vegetarian and we wanted a seasonal salad that had meat in it, the restaurant was more than willing to make it without the meat. Every season they feature a salad that uses ingredients that are freshest at that time of year, expect high quality ingredients and great taste. The salad had great taste and the large was big enough for four or more people.

After the salad we ordered one large pizza that would be shared amongst four people. The pizzas were large for the price. Pizzas come in three sizes: 11 inches, 13 inches, or 17 inches. If you are not happy with the topping choices they offer on their pizzas you can select the toppings you like and create your own pizza or calzone. Our group chose the Green Lantern split with the Edgar Allan Poe Pizza. This was so half the pizza was Green Lantern and other half was Edgar Allan Poe. Green Lantern has goat cheese, tomato sauce, mozzerella, mushrooms, pesto, garlic, and artichokes. The Green Lantern provided for a taste sensation where you could taste the goat cheese, pesto, garlic, and artichoke, and taste how they all compliment each other. The Edgar Allan Poe had olive oil, mozzerella, fontina cheese, mushrooms, garlic, kalmata olives, goat cheese, tomato, and parsley. This one allowed for a more garlicky and mushroom taste. It was good but I preferred the complement and taste of the Green Lantern. The menu offers multiple other varieties of pizza that sound just as tasty. The crust is also interesting being not too crunchy but yet not too doughy allowing for a texture that is just right for a pizza.

Overall if you are in the Cleveland Heights or Lakewood area and looking to try something new, consider trying Dewey's Pizza. Try it once and you will probably be hooked. The service is fast and friendly. The price of food is moderate and is well worth it for the taste and amount you will get for the price. Dewey's will be well worth the trip.
