DGS Productions Bringing 51BassCamp Music Fest to Albany, New York Area
Revised 08/10/2011 for New Venue Location
Multi-day music festivals are a bit of a tradition in the upstate New York area surrounding the city of Albany, and the tradition continues with a brand-new addition this summer. The two-day 51BassCamp music festival kicks off at 12:00 pm on August 26, 2011 at The Solid Rock Ranch at 222 County Highway 143 in Northville, New York.
This festival, coordinated by area natives Don Stone, Nicole Bleichert and Jason Hamilton of DGS Productions, features on-site camping and over 75 musical acts with styles from electronica to jam-band and rock spread between four separate stages throughout the weekend. Featured acts are being coordinated by several promoters including DNBC, The Good Life, Dubbage, Paradise City, Vudoo Productions, Heady Pro, and Rage Right. Planned performances by national headliners include Brothers Past and Break Science, RUN DMT, Higher Organix, Alex English, Claw, Udachi, The Dark Flow and many more.
DGS Productions was founded in 2010 in Albany and has since hosted several successful events in the region, including one-night dance parties at Mulligan's in Round Lake, Pagliacci's and Jillian's in downtown Albany and a 'silent disco' party during the 2010 LarkFEST street fair, coordinated in conjunction with Silent Storm Sound System out of Philadelphia. Guests at the silent disco party danced in the street to live DJ sets beamed wirelessly to rented headphones in lieu of large loudspeakers; a first of its kind for Albany. In keeping with this forward-thinking tradition, 51BassCamp marks the first-ever multi-day music festival for DGS Productions.
The DGS Productions crew has several years of event planning and DJing experience between them in the Albany area and beyond. Nicole Bleichert, who has coordinated events in Albany, New York City and Poughkeepsie since 2005 as the founder of Dreamy Productions, returned to Albany on a permanent basis to co-found DGS Productions in 2010. Don Stone has ten years' experience DJing and running his own record label, SinSation Sound. He joined forces with Jason Hamilton in 2010 to form the DJ and live-performance duo The Dark Flow at around the same time that DGS Productions came into being. Jason Hamilton has ten years of DJing experience as Jason Demonic with Gravity Entertainment out of Scotia, New York along with his work in The Dark Flow. Nicole Bleichert says about the vitality of the region's electronic dance music scene: "A lot of people say it has gone away, or it comes and goes, but it's always here. There are always tons of events every weekend. You just have to know where to look."
The name '51BassCamp' was chosen for its local edge; a nod to the region's 518 area code with 'Bass' replacing '8' to highlight the crew's enthusiasm for bass-heavy, beat-driven dance music like house and dubstep. As the name implies, guests are encouraged to bring tents or RVs and stay at facilities on-premises since local hotel rooms will be scarce do to the Travers Stakes in Saratoga occurring on the same weekend. Presale tickets are available for 51BassCamp online through Brown Paper Tickets at https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/177310. There are a limited number of camping passes available with one $25 pass required per group or carload. Submissions are currently being accepted for visual art and effects, vending, and volunteer support-staff at: 51bassinfo@gmail.com.
