When our bodies are under great deals of stress, we often can not respond to the simple events of life and this can trigger an episode of major depression. For traditional medications for depression to be fully effective, it is important to make lifestyle changes that will also alleviate your depression. But, when living a life that is full of stress and adverse events, the fight against depression can be challenging.
The adrenal glands have much to do with our body's inability to overcome stress and fight depressive symptoms. Within the adrenals is a natural steroid that is released known as DHEA and, while considered the most abundant steroidal hormone in our body, it is often in short supply in adults who face stress in their lives and are not able to control that stress well.
With low levels of DHEA, you will enter into a cyclic effect that will only contribute to your depression further and often you will find that your energy levels are lower, your sex drive is diminished and even your immune system is compromised. It is for this reason that many physicians, today, are recommending that patients supplement with DHEA to ensure they are getting the right balance of natural hormones when their adrenal glands are depleted or not supplying the body with the right levels.
If you are living with major depression, and if you find that your depression is not alleviated with traditional anti-depressants, consider supplementing your health with DHEA supplements. In many cases, adults who are experiencing high stress levels and unable to mange their depression will find that their health is much improved, their sex drive levels are increased, and their immunity is boosted. With these natural health improvements, depression often becomes much easier to manage, even dissipating over time.
