Diabetes Blocking Diet

What to Eat for Diabetes

Mrs.Rogers
First of all I want to wish all Diabetics around the globe, much success in fighting this terrible disease. It is a silent killer, and you can prevent some of its debilitating effects, simply by eating smarter.

*It is important to eat nine servings of fruits and vegetables each and every day. You can add these to other dishes, if you do not like the taste of them by themselves. Many will add vegetables to casseroles, and fruit in the form of a pie, etc. Try different ways to add them to different dishes, experiment with them. Hopefully you will find a way to get all these servings in a day.

*Eat three to six foods from the whole grain family, every day. Whole grains have extra fiber, and extra fiber aids in weight loss. Fiber in general sends calories through your digestive system, and it goes so fast through it, that the fat never has a chance to end up being stored. Especially being stored in areas you do not want, like the stomach and the hips. Aiming for 25 to 35 grams daily, is the general rule of thumb. If you are successful you could lose up to 13 pounds a year.

*Eating two to three foods rich in calcium, everyday is a good idea also. Adequate amounts of calcium can not only help in fighting osteoporosis, but it can make bones stronger, and help prevent certain cancers, like prostate, and colon. If you have high blood sugar this can help lower that for you as well. Ladies, PMS will not be so much dread, if during your period, you simply increase your calcium intake. Did you know Calcium lowers overall body fat? It does. Women should have around 1000mg, and men should have around 1900mg, daily.

Beans are more than gas aids, they can lower cholesterol, and lower risk factors for heart disease. *So eat beans around five times a week. Beans are versatile and can be added in chillies, stews, and casseroles as well.

Who said it was bad to go "NUTS"? *If you eat nuts five times a week, several handfuls, then you are benefiting your overall health. "People who eat nuts regularly, have less heart issues, than people who avoided them", according to Prevention Magazine's issue on Diabetes. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons on cereals, yogurts, or salads, this should give you your requirements easily.

Eat some type of fresh fish, either frozen or fresh will do. *Eat fish twice a week. Many people who do not like fish, take supplements to help them, like fish oil tablets. This will work also.

Drink, drink, drink, *eight glasses of water a day. You can count tea, and diet sodas as your intake. Everyone knows that not only does water flush your kidneys, it will make skin more softer, and radiant. Water is a natural gift, enjoy!

*Follow a low fat guide. Maximum fat intake for individuals are as follows,

1,250 calorie diet / 35 grams

1,500 " " / 42 grams

1,750 " " / 49 grams

2,000 " " / 56 grams

2,250 " " / 63 grams

Taking your vitamins insures that vitamin C, and E will be taken daily. These are important, they fight radical damages, and keep your immune system strong.

You can have three ounces of meat a day. That is about the size of a deck of cards. Eggs, count as a meat. *You can have four eggs a week, or 7 even. It will depend on your cholesterol results. Ask your doctor.

Hopefully you can take something from this article and apply it into your life or into practice with your family. It is always a good idea to watch fats, and sugars in a Diabetic lifestyle. But with any diet changes or lifestyle changes it is important to get medical advice. It could make some conditions worse, if you do not know.
