Most diabetes-related organizations have dynamic web sites that are information-rich and, sometimes, interactive. TypeFree.com has compiled a list of many diabetes-related organizations to help people get all of the right resources and information. After all, navigating through the internet can be tough; it's important to have reliable and straight-forward resources to turn to for answers.
Here are a few of the organizations that are focused on diabetes advocacy, research, and prevention, as compiled by TypeFree.com:
• National Medical Association - The NMA has an educational program that is focused on addressing the prevalence of diabetes in the Black community. This NMA program is implemented in six coalition sites around the country to provide education and outreach.
• American Diabetes Association - The ADA is focused on cure, care, and commitment to diabetes research, outreach, and education. This organization is a clearinghouse for information about the condition, as well as information about treatment, research, and ways to get involve with fundraising.
• Canadian Diabetes Association - Like the ADA, the CDA is focused on diabetes research, education, service, and advocacy in Canada and for Canadians.
• Pedorthic Footwear Association - The PFA is dedicated to increasing knowledge and understanding of pedorthics, according to the organization's mission statement. Because so many diabetics require special diabetic shoes, this organization is helpful in developing and sharing information about diabetes-friendly footwear.
• National Kidney Foundation - The mission of the NKF is to prevent kidney and urinary tract disorders, improve the health and well-being of individuals and families affected by these diseases, and increase the availability of all organs for transplantation. Many diabetics have kidney problems as a result of their condition and will, at some point, rely on the research and efforts of the NKF for help.
• Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International - This organization is dedicated to researching and finding a cure for juvenile - or type 1 - diabetes.
Whenever you're looking for information about diabetes, related conditions, research, and more, it's always helpful to look for information from several resources, as different resources may provide different information. Of course, it's also important to speak with your doctor if you have questions about diabetes or any elements of the condition that specifically relate to you.
