Diabetes are popular diseases across countries in the world. The first of such diseases is 'diabetes mellitus', which is a situation whereby the body fails to regulate the level of sugar in the blood. A particular hormone that is associated with this is 'insulin', which is produced by the Pancreas, an organ that lies at the abdominal region of the body. Insulin is noted for the regulation of the sugar content of the Blood. However, when this hormone is lacking in the body, sugar accumulates in the body of such individual. Common symptoms of the disease include high blood sugar, loss of weight, fatigue, hunger, dry skin, dry mouth and tongue, increased rate of breathing, ketosis and acidosis. An individual that is suffering from the disease can quickly detect it by observing the site of urination after about ten or fifteen minutes, If ants cluster round the urine, this is an indication that the urine is sugary and that the individual is suffering from it. A person suffering from the disease could also observe that the urine is tick, whitish in colour and foaming.
Victim of 'diabetes mellitus' can regulate his / her diet. In this case, he / she needs to abstain from carbohydrate foods and concentrates more on proteinous foods. Aside this, he / she needs to seek medical attention. In this case, such medical doctor can prescribe the injection of insulin hormone into the body of the patient
The second form of diabetes is 'diabetes insipidus', which is a disease whereby the victim urinates frequently accompanied by heavy thirst. Such victim thus needs to drink much water at interval to replenish the frequent loss of water. The disease is caused by the failure of the posterior lobe of the pituitary gland to secrete Anti-Diuretic Hormone (ADH), which is known for regulating the amount of water being passed by the kidney.
Diabetes insipidus can be treated by injecting 'pitressin tannate' into the body of the victim to give relief.
