With 24 pounds of flywheel the 1000Sr is a sure fit for intermediate and avid cyclist. An excellent workout range is achievable with its sixteen levels of resistance. Riding feels smooth and amazingly quiet. The sturdy frame keeps the bike stable and comfortable even when you pedal as hard as you can.
Speaking of comfort this bike has oversize seat which is richly padded. Even after 30 or 45 minutes of workout you won't get sore bottom. The seat is adjustable so people as short as 5'1" and as high as 6'6" can still ride comfortably on it. The step-thru design also add the comfort factor. Since the main frame lies flat on the floor gettin on and off the bike is easy and doesn't require you to lift your feet. For people with limited mobility that is a huge plus.
To monitor your heart rate Diamondback installs a heart-rate sensor on the handle bars. This sensor is pretty good compared to the ones installed on lower models. It is fast in picking up your heart rate so when you grab the handle bars you can see the accurate numbers almost immediately. If you don't like this kind of sensor you can also use the included wireless chest strap. The wireless sensor is made by Polar, a very well known brand in heart monitors. Even though it was not meant as a medical device it's incredibly accurate.
You should note that this bike comes unassembled. The major parts are already put together so you don't need to do much. However the already assembled parts are heavy as heck. You should do the assembly next to the place where you want to put this machine.
There is one annoying thing about the assembly. If you try to assemble this bike on your own you'll void the warranty. DiamondBack made it clear that this bike must be assembled by a qualified technician. Perhaps they think that most people don't know how to solve a mechanical puzzle like this one properly.
Conclusion
All in all the Diamondback Fitness 1000Sr Step-thru recumbent exercise bike is an excellent bike to have at home. It may be expensive (about $1,300) but considering the high quality and comfort it worth every penny you spend.
