Had Diana, Princess of Wales lived, she would have celebrated her 50th birthday this year. The whole world mourned her death; many recalled how they were riveted in front of the television on the day of her fairy-tale wedding. Here are some special dates in the life of Diana, Princess of Wales.
July 1, 1961
Lady Diana Frances Spencer was born in Sandringham, Norfolk, England to John Edward Spencer, 37 and Lady Frances Spencer, 25 (then Lord and Lady Althorp). Diana had 2 older sisters and a younger brother would be born later.
Diana's parents legally divorced. Her mother eventually remarried, and became Mrs. Shand Kydd.
Diana's father, John Edward became the Earl of Spencer, making Diana the Lady Princess Diana Spencer.
1977
Lady Princess Diana attends school at the Institute Alpin Videmanette in Rougemont, Switzerland.
Lady Princess Diana begins teaching kindergarten in London.
February 24, 1981
Lady Princess Diana became engaged to The Prince of Wales, Charles.
July 29, 1981
Lady Princess Diana married Prince Charles in St. Paul's Cathedral in London, according to the British Monarchy website.
June 21, 1982
Princess Diana's and Prince Charles' first child, a son, William Arthur Phillip Louis was born.
September 15, 1984
A second son, Henry Charles Albert David, was born to Princess Diana and Prince Charles.
Princess Diana visits a leprosy clinic in Indonesia.
February, 1992
Princess Diana went to Mother Teresa's Hospice for the Sick and Dying in Kolkata, India and visited all of the patients there one by one. After this visit, Princess Diana and Mother Teresa forged a strong bond (Princess Diana the Work Continues website).
December, 1992
Princess Diana and Prince Charles' marital separation was formerly announced by the Prime Minister.
The title of "International Humanitarian of the Year" in the U.S. was given to Diana, Princess of Wales.
July, 1995
Diana, Princess of Wales and Prince Charles appeared officially together for the final time at the VJ Day Celebrations in London.
August 28, 1996
Diana, Princess of Wales and Prince Charles' divorce was finalized. Kensington Palace continued to be her home where her sons stayed with her when school was out.
August 30, 1997
Diana, Princess of Wales died in a tragic car accident in Paris. She was on a date with Dodi Fayed, whom she had been dating for a short time.
September 6, 1997
Diana, Princess of Wale's funeral took place at Westminster Abbey, as stated by the British Monarchy website. She was laid to rest on the Althorp estate (her family's home) on a small island on a lake.

She was special and quite a person. I wonder what she could have accomplished if she had lived.
Her memory will live on as a young person! Amazing she would have been 50 years old this year!
