Dianne Feinstein Caught on Tape Looking at Notes Scrawled in Palm of Hand During Televised Debate

Marc Schenker
Dianne Feinstein was caught on tape looking at notes scrawled in the palm of her hand during a televised debate. Both news and footage of this mortifying history of hers have only recently been dug up in response to the liberal media's extreme overreaction to Palin doing the same thing at the recent Tea Party convention. Seems like Sarah Palin wasn't the only one to use the old tactic of looking at notes scrawled in the palm of her hand as a memory aid. In fact, you can even credibly say that she was only mimicking the antics of that California, senior senator, Dianne Feinstein, who had Palin beat by a good 20 or so years and seemed to set the "standard" for such activity! Of course, you won't hear the liberal, mainstream media give anything coming close to equal time with this embarrassment of Feinstein's since they are good, little lapdogs of the Democrats.

The year was 1990, October 1990 in fact. The scene? Why, the debate for the gubernatorial race between her and Pete Wilson, who would end up trouncing Feinstein and become California's govenor from 1991 until 1999. The scandal that occurred? Feinstein scrawling the three words "growth," "education," and "choice" on her delicate, little hand in noticeably glaring, blue marker to remind her of the policy themes she desired to use against Wilson in that debate. According to the Santa Barbara Independent, Feinstein's reason for this moment of now-regrettable indiscretion was due to nervousness as it was a statewide, televised event (Awwww, Dianne!!! Don't be nervous...girlfriend!!).

As you'll see on the video from Fox News Channel, ol' Dianne was clearly a bit jittery or at least unsure of herself, and I don't think I'm being that partisan here. It's also very incriminating to note that, unlike Palin's use of the notes in the palm of her hand, Feinstein's use of them in her televised debate actually constituted a violation of the debate rules in purely technical terms as candidates weren't allowed to bring notes in any form to the podium! When asked about her violation, good ol' Dianne did what all mature, rational, clear-thinking Democrats do: She childishly snapped, "I'm not going to show you," hid her guilty hand behind her back, and then walked away. I'm not joking here, people!!

While now ragging on ol' Dianne is all well and good-as a matter of fact, allow me to just momentarily...hahaha...hohoho...hehehe...rag on her a bit-that brings me to the more serious, less funny context that once again, the liberals and Democrats in the media and public office have committed a double-standard of complete hypocrisy, one so big this time that it would eclipse even Michael Moore in sheer girth and magnitude.

When Keith "Bathtub Boy" Olbermann made a snide parody at Palin's expense, why didn't he mention the equally problematic episode of California's top Democrat senator, just for the sake of giving himself the appearance of fairness? Oh, yeah, because he deals only in overly aggressive, one-sided, partisan cheap shots to fuel his base of liberal viewers...you know, all five or six of them.

Or how about when the same old, same old late-night comics again had an unwarranted field day at Palin's expense because of her crib notes episode? You'd think that in their completely tedious and more-often-than-not-unfunny monologues, they could've at least taken the trouble to maybe, maybe, sneak in something like one or two tiny, little jabs at Dianne Feinstein since she did the exact same thing!! But, no, who exactly am I kidding here, seeing as all the late-night comics are basically just a bunch of overly paid, unfunny shills for the liberal/Democrat agenda?

Then what about Robert Gibbs, Obama's press secretary, or as Hannity likes to say, the propaganda minister? When he lowered himself into the gutter by making a big deal of Palin's crib notes by parodying her by scrawling on his own hand a fake list of items to pick up for his son (bet his son, Ethan, is really proud of dad Robert...not!), why didn't he also take a cheap shot at Feinstein? Oh, wait a minute here, because he was too busy being a partisan clown while the US continues shedding jobs, treating terrorists like civilian criminals, and racking up the debt. Silly, silly me.

Don't either of these two women have a pad of paper and pen? What's wrong with index cards? Are they trying to come across as "perfect"?

What's wrong with using notes? There's nothing unprofessional about it; in fact it makes more sense than having someone else type "your words" onto a teleprompter for regurgitation. Notes are short reminders that help a speaker stay on topic. A teleprompter is typed in propaganda that controls what the speaker says. Give me a speaker who is knowledgeable enough to speak intelligently for five minutes from a few words on a notecard (or palm) over a teleprompter-reliant speaker any day.

Sarah Palin did better then John Kerry. Remember the Presidential debates. Kerry was constantly modifying his notes for the whole debate!

My opinion about Sarah Palin has not changed. She should serve in the US Senate for six years before running for President. She is considered a celebrity instead of a potential candidate for the Presidency by many people, but experience in the US Senate will change all that.

I don't really see a problem of referring to notes, it should be upfront and in the open for everyone

In a rational world, it would be at this point that the anti-Palin media machine would realize that all the harping over some writing on a hand has just backfired. But history says the machine will roll forth.
