Does it feel like you are living in the bathroom these days? If your bowel movements have been loose and watery, and you are feeling the need to constantly be running for the bathroom then you might have diarrhea. Diarrhea is when your bowel movements have loose and watery stools in them. Diarrhea can affect a person at any age, and there are many causes for it. There are many different ways you can help yourself when suffering from diarrhea.

One of the huge problems with diarrhea is that it can make a person dehydrated. It is important that a person who has diarrhea drinks plenty of fluids so dehydration will not also happen to them. So make sure to drink plenty of liquids when you have diarrhea. However, avoid carbonated drinks as it can make your diarrhea worse. Drinking lots of water is best for a person who has diarrhea.

Sometimes eating certain foods can actually cause diarrhea or make your diarrhea continue for a longer amount of time. Some people get diarrhea because they have food intolerance like artificial sweetener or by drinking milk because they are lactose intolerant. So if you have diarrhea you might want to avoid dairy products like milk, cheese, and ice cream. You might also want to avoid some fruit like prunes, pears, apples, and peaches. Do not eat beans, potatoes, bran, corn, or wheat products if you are suffering from diarrhea.

Many people suffer from diarrhea, but by watching what you eat and drink you can help it end sooner. Also try to discover what the cause of your diarrhea is. Some causes can be intestinal disease like irritable bowel syndrome, food intolerances, parasitic, viral, and bacterial. Once you understand the cause of your diarrhea then you can help treat it better.

There are times when diarrhea can become more serious, and you should go see your doctor. See your doctor if your diarrhea does not get better after three days, or if you have other symptoms like fever and painful abdominal cramps. Also see your doctor if you have a rash, feel week, and are jaundice. If you have pus or blood in your stools see your doctor immediately. Always keep your body hydrated with liquids so that you do not have to see your doctor for dehydration. Proper diarrhea treatment and diagnosis is always important.
