All of us get older as the days go by. For some it comes easy...and for others, it does not.
And that guilty pleasure of watching people fall flat in new territory is why droves of Americans will tune into the newest reality TV show to hit the airwaves. Clay is attempting to rebuild his comedy career, having just put out a new album and is trying to do something with his love life.
And he's going to leave it all out on the line for your consideration in "Dice: Undisputed."
It's as if Clay is bringing Brooklyn right into your living rooms, with his two kids and his fiancee Eleanor, a WWE wrestling star from another tough burg, South Philly and the person with whom he shares living quarters. If you can't figure that out, all you have to do is look at all the clothing that clay and the kids wear with the word "Brooklyn" inscribed.
And the most surprising thing about "The Diceman" is that Clay (real name: Andrew Silverstein) has retained the majority of the same qualities that alienated him from females--and ingratiated him to Alpha males in the heyday of his career. He still sells out comedy clubs in Jersey--and can't get a gig in Miami, either because his manager is an idiot or he is somewhat irritating.
Either way, Clay wastes little time in ticking off his road manager, a guy he calls "Wheels," who is apparently too busy with his own catering business to wait hand-and-foot on Dice. The Diceman is more needy than my seven-year-old--and this rings loud and clear when Wheels decides he's too busy to go on a road trip (though he's the road manager) and sends along Todd, who in a short time span, messes up a Miami gig and nearly quits the whole thing in Orlando the next day. Dice wastes little time in calling the guy "the worst manager in the history of the United States."
But there is a softer said to the guy, a la Ozzy, which should play very well to audiences and perhaps rekindle that politically incorrect, but brutally honest spark that "The Diceman" persona has always been shown to exhibit.
As Dice says in his show, "the goal is to sell-out Giants Stadium when I perform there at the end of the season." When Dice's agent laughed at him and explained the "difference between reality and fantasy," Dice's agent quickly became an ex-agent.
Oh!!
Catch "Dice: Undisputed" Sundays on VH1.
