We are gathered here to say our final good-byes to Dick Wilson, and to let him rest in peace after a long, eventful life. There is a whole nation gathered together today, as Mr. Wilson touched and amused people all over the country for over half a century.

First my thoughts go out to his wife Meg, who always stood by him through thick and thin. Then his three children Stuart, Wendy, and Melanie. The rest of the family and friends, and finally everyone who knew him through the media. We have all suffered a great loss, and must stand together in these times.

One of the things he will be remembered for is his kindness, and willingness to help others. If there ever was anyone in need, Mr. Wilson would do what he could to support and aid. His charitable donations will live on far beyond 2007.

His great sense of humor and ability to put smiles on people's faces will always be treasured and remembered. Ever since he was a little boy, his ambitions stood out. He wanted to excel in life, and his parents would always remain great role models.

Born in England in 1916, he later moved to Canada as a child. During World War II, he showed his courage and dedication by serving in the Canadian Air Force. His commitment to help the allied forces cannot be honored enough.

His long professional career started in 1964, after he had become a U.S. citizen a decade before. People loved him immediately, and his commercials quickly became a big success. Over the years he would prove himself as an icon in the American pop culture, and everyone still knows the phrase "Please, don't squeeze the Charmin!", from the Charmin toilet paper commercials.

Later he would do guest performances in a long line of TV-shows, sitcoms and theaters, all while still working for Charmin, until his retirement in 1985.

The biggest personal success from his own side was the birth of Stuart, Wendy, and Melanie, and later his grand children. His family meant the world to him, and nothing would ever come between them. They were his big pride and joys, and kept his life spirit up for so many years.

His life stretched out over 91 years, and Dick Wilson leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever, not only by his family and friends, but by America. Even after his death he will remain an icon for years to come, and his legacy will never be forgotten.
