Did Afghan President Karzai Threaten to Join Taliban?

U.S. Troops Face More Dangerous Times, McChrystal Says

Sheryl Young
Tues. April 6 - At approximately 1:45 pm EST, reporter Geraldo Rivera streamed live from Afghanistan with U.S. troops so they could be possibly be seen on video by their families back home before dangers intensify.

Earlier this week, it was reported worldwide that Afghan President Hamid Karzai threatened to join Taliban rebel forces if Western nations keep pressuring him to reform his own government. today, Karzai's representatives are beginning to deny he ever said it.

Rivera has been in Afghanistan for Fox News interviewing General Stanley McChrystal, who on April 5 stated the current insurgence is very dangerous (see video here).

Rivera's appearance with the troops came mere hours after a severe bout of fighting took place between U.S. soldiers and Taliban fighters who had hidden near a school. Fierce fire occurred for about 45 minutes between the two sides, until U.S. troops received backup.

Altogether, including a NATO air strike, 27 rebels were killed in fighting Tuesday, with one U.S. soldier reported wounded.

A China Daily report stated that Obama's recent surprise trip to Kabal is said to be one of the reasons the Afghan leader feels the U.S. and its allies are interfering in his country's business so much. Karzai appears to have become more insolent since then.

Karzai goes so far in his statements as to blame the U.S. for the corruption in his own country's elections.

According to an Associated Press story, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs described Karzai's threat as "troubling."

Both the afore-mentioned China Daily report and CBS News offer evidence that the White House may consider canceling a May 2 meeting scheduled between President Obama and Karzai.

Brief background on the Taliban
Taliban members are mostly from Afghanistan and Pakistan. According to live interviews conducted with Taliban members in the February 2010 PBS-TV feature "Frontline: Behind Taliban Lines," the Taliban do not believe in democracy for the people in their own countries; but it goes further. They would like to impose sharia law around the world.

Sharia law is the Islamic system of law. Some experts consider only the terrorist version of Islamic law to be dangerous to free countries if imposed.

I've done a 2-part interview at The Underground Online Magazine with an Egyptian Christian who has experienced the persecution of Islamic terrorists' religious cleansing in his country.

Apologist Usama Dakdok claims that terrorists who wish to enforce Sharia law worldwide are presenting watered down versions of the Quran to the world community, and even to the many good and decent Muslims of the world. This way, we will begin to become convinced that jihad and sharia law are not the dangers we think they are.

Dakdok is not alone in claiming this deception. Books have been written by refugees from Islam-reigning countries and even ex-members of terrorist groups, such as:

-Mosab Hassan Yousef, Son of Hamas;
-Tass Saada, Once an Arafat Man;
-Brigitte Gabriel, They Must be Stopped; Why We must Defeat Radical Islam (her name sounds American, but she escaped from Lebanon);
-Ergun Caner, Voices Behind the Veil: Women on the Women of Islam;
And more.

In the PBS Frontline presentation, One young bomb maker who was interviewed indicated the Taliban's trained philosophy-that America started the Afghanistan war so Europe and America would be safe. But (paraphrased from film) that people should know once Afghanistan is conquered, they (Taliban) will aim for the Middle East and Europe.

The series also found that most Taliban are trained by Al Qaeda, often band together with other terrorist groups and are hard to distinguish by area once they are together.
