Did Barack Obama Refuse to Say the Pledge of Allegiance?
Dear Friend,
Thank you for inquiring about the false accusation that I have refused to sing the National Anthem or say the Pledge of Allegiance. I knew when I decided to run for President that I would not be immune from the "anything goes" form of attack politics that has been so prominent in our elections in recent years. And this outrageous charge is just another example of the kind of mean spirited, "shock" politics I will move beyond as President.
I am honored to lead a life of public service, and it is inconceivable that I would ever refuse to say the Pledge or sing the National Anthem. In fact, as a U.S. senator, I am sometimes called upon to preside over the opening of the Senate in the morning, at which time I am proud to lead my colleagues in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, with my right hand over my heart. Anybody who doesn't believe in the Pledge shouldn't be running for President.
Every time I have been elected or reelected to the Illinois Senate and the United States Senate, I have proudly raised my right hand, placed my left hand on the Bible and sworn to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic." And I will be proud to take the Presidential Oath of office on January 20, 2009.

People are quick to jump to conclusions and assume the worst, especially with political candidates. I don't know what was going through his mind when he was standing there. Basically, someone caught him with his guard down for a split second and snapped a picture to somehow gain credibility towards changing how others perceive him. The email wants us to believe that they were in the middle of saying the Pledge of Allegiance when the picture was taken. However, that cannot be proven with this picture. You cannot tell from a picture if they had even started saying the Pledge of Allegiance. We have to make up our own minds how we feel about this man and not let someone else's influence of words and a picture make up our minds for us.

Obama, like the cowards Clinton, G.H.W. Bush and G.W. Bush Jr. should/should have worked to introduce and pass legislation to outlaw abortion and to overturn Roe vs. Wade.

Barack Obama was a poor presidential nomination choice made by the Democratic Party. I say this because,contrary to what this writer claims, Obama did refuse to salute the flag, hold his hand over his heart, and to recite the Pledge Of Allegiance and only started doing so when he formed an exploratory committee to find out if he had a good chance to run for President. Every presidential, senatorial, and House candidate at the state and federal level, should be honored to respect our flag and pledge allegiance to it. Obama should also be ashamed of himself for supporting late term abortions. Not just Obama, but the whole entire Democratic party platform should be 100% pro life as a former surgeon general made the official medical ruling that human life begins at the very instant of conception. A lot of Reporters keep saying it was a Race issue with whites. Obama supporters reportedly helped thousands register. Does anyone honestly beleive that they helped any whites register. Their focus was on the black voters because they would vote for Obama no matter what he said while campaigning. Any time the Race issue is mentioned it's always aimed at the white people. Get real!!! This election showed how extremely racial the blacks are.

I had a white "friend" call me racist because I won't vote for Obama. She also said the only reason I want McCain is because he's "old."
I could say the only reason I want McCain is because he's NOT Obama, but it's not the only reason. I don't care if Obama is black, white, green, or purple. He's a threat to our national security and life as we have known it in the U.S. People who vote for him will live to regret throwing away the lives of all who have fought and died to make and keep us free.
We need a real american hero, someone who fought for this country and was tortured for America because he would not tell the enemy what they wanted. He was in full body cast for more than a Year of his life. Now he is a true Patriot.
