Did You Follow the Cross?

Janice Meyer
Jesus is tried before the Sanhedrin,
but some words are not coherent from my
vantage point. They ask Jesus who He is.
"I will be coming on the clouds of Heaven,"
He answers. There are several more trials.

Pontius Pilate tries to stop Jesus' suffering,
his attempts are not successful, so Pilate
orders Jesus to be scourged before He is sent
to execution by Roman crucifixion. Soldiers place
a crown of thorns on His head and mock Him.

Jesus carries His own cross to the Via Delarosa,
(also called "The Path of Suffering")
At one point, Jesus becomes weak , He falls;
Simon of Cyrene is ordered to carry the cross
after Jesus to Mount Golgotha (The Skull).

The nails are pounded into His hands and feet,
through the cross; soldiers shove the cross upright.
My Lord is now being crucified, as I watch.
The Roman soldiers divide His garments;
one soldier asks, "If you are the Son of God,

come down from there." Then darkness comes over
the land. I hear Jesus utter, "Forgive them Father,
for they know not what they are doing." The temple
veil is rent; I hear Jesus say, "It is finished." He
bows His head, casts His eyes toward Heaven - says,

"Father, into Your Hands I commit My Spirit."
