Did God Create the Universe?

Richard Banks
Who created the universe? This question will generate controversy from believers and non-believers. On the one side, Theologians and those of various faiths believe God created the heavens and the earth. Subsequently, man's creation followed and the circle of life begun.

Certain scientists have agreed regarding Georges Lemaitre's Big Bang Theory. The "hypothesis of primeval atom" caused the creation of the universe. Even Pope Pius XII accorded the Big Bang Theory was aligned with the Catholic concept of creation. And now the debate begins.

Now elapse time some eight decades and enter into the equation, Stephen Hawking, Ph.D. Mr. Hawking is a world renowned British theoretical physicist. An accomplished author of nearly 200 works to include the best seller "A Brief History of Time, Black Holes and Baby Universes and Other Essay" , "The Universe in a Nutshell", and "A Brief History of Time". His newest publication, co-authored with U.S. physicist Leonard Mlodinow, is called "The Grand Design".

Stephen Hawking is deemed controversial due to his theories on the creation of the universe and life itself. He leans more on the side of science instead of faith. According to Hawking, "a creator of the universe redundant...Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist."

Hawking goes on to state, "It is not necessary to invoke God to light the blue touch paper and set the universe going." His current sentiments are in contrast to his earlier beliefs of a somewhat coexistence of God and the Big Bang Theory.

Opponents disagree due to his beliefs being theories and not proven. Some go as far as stating Stephen Hawkins' views are not laws of science, such as the Law of Gravity. With the release of "The Grand Design" set for September 9, 2010, controversy is sure to follow.

I discount S Hawkings' theories and as a Christian I unashamedly believe the Creation account as given in the Holy Scriptures. I will not argue the point.

I HAVE NOTHING BUT RESPECT AND ADMIRATION FOR STEPHEN HAWKING. BUT GOD DID CREATE THE UNIVERSE. EACH PERSON HAS THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE WHAT HE OR SHE BELIEVES. I BELIEVE IN GOD THE FATHER, GOD THE SON AND GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT.I BELIVE THE HOLY BIBLE IS DICTATED BY GOD TO THE WRITTERS. GOD IS THE GREATEST SCIENTIST OF ALL TIME. NO HUMAN BEING CAN POSSIBLY UNDERSTAND EVERYTHING GOD HAS DONE OR WILL DO. MOST SCIENTIST ARE JUST JEALOUS OF GOD, BECAUSE GOD KNOWS EVERYTHING AND MORE. SCIENTIST CAN'T STAN EACH OTHER. THEY ALL THINK OF THEMSELVES AS KNOWING ALL THINGS. BUT THEY CAN'T COME CLOSE TO UNDERSTANDING GODS WORK, NOR HIS WORD. SO THEY GET ANGRY AT GOD BECAUSE THEY CAN'T FIGURE IT OUT. GOD DOES KNOW ALL THINGS AND MORE. HE CAN DO ALL THINGS. NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR GOD THE FATHER.. YES HE DID CREATE THE UNIVERSE.THANK YOU. LLHD
