Did the Groundhog See His Shadow in 2011? See What Punxsutawney Phil and Other Contenders Predicted
Is it an Early Spring or What?
According to Sillive.com , if the groundhog sees it's shadow winter will continue for 6 more weeks. Now if the cute rodent doesn't see his shadow an early spring arrives. At this point in time, I'm really hoping this is true. We have had one unbearable winter between all the snow storms and now an ice storm. It would be indeed nice to have warmer weather soon.
Although Punxsutawney Phil is the biggest star of the day, he still have competition from other groundhogs such as Staten Island Chuck, Buckeye Chuck from Ohio, Smith Lake Jake in Alabama, Wiarton Willie who represents Ontario, Octorara Orphie from Lancaster, Pa, Dunkirk Dave who represents Dunkirk, NY, Jimmy The Groundhog from WI,Balzac Billy from Canada, and many more other groundhogs also compete in this popular day which we call Groundhog Day.
Who do you believe? Is Phil always right? Of course not, no groundhog is perfect even thought we'd like to think so, especially at this time of the year.

My favorite of all the groundhogs is "Smith Lake Jake". He is just 2 cute 4 words. I watched him predict on 43 news, and you can not help but smile when you see him there wearing his little hat on his fuzzy little head with his name on it.

I always feel bad for Phil on Ground Hog's day. The poor little groundhog is pulled from his home to a group of cheering people to see if he will get scared or not and run away, all cause people just can't watch the weather. Guess what? Spring will get here, just like it always does.
That's what I told my friends at work...groundhogs could be reading the Farmers Almanac and still not get it right, but then again, how accurate are the weather forecasters!? LOL
