Did Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer Split so Soon?

Have Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer truly broken up or is their supposed split just another rumor? Well, when I first heard the news this morning, I thought it was a rumor as entertainment message boards were full of speculation with no confirmed sources shared. However, People Magazine is now reporting that multiple sources have, in fact, confirmed that the two have actually called it quits.

The former Friend's star, Jennifer Aniston, 39, has had a rough time in the romance department in recent years. Having once been one half of one of Hollywood's wealthiest and most powerful couples, Aniston's trouble with love began long before John Mayer, but actually when her former husband, Brad Pitt, opted out of their marriage and shortly thereafter began a family with actress Angelina Jolie. Since her divorce in 2005, Jennifer Aniston has been romantically linked with actor Vince Vaughn, model Paul Sculfor and, most recently, 30 year old musician John Mayer probably most famous for his hits, Waiting On The World To Change and Gravity.

John Mayer, on the other hand, has been romantically linked in the past with another Jennifer, that one was actress Love-Hewitt. John Mayer has reportedly also dated another recent divorcee, actress Jessica Simpson as well as actress Minka Kelly before hooking up with Jennifer Aniston whom he dated a little less than five months before rumors of their recent breakup began.

Earlier the U.K. Mirror reported that John Mayer "dumped" Jennifer Aniston, but People Magazine reports that the two were just, "in different places".

The curious thing about this whole story and so many others like it is that it comes on the heels of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie welcoming their newest twin additions to their family on July 12, 2008, now making them the parents of 6 children. While I admit that I haven't exactly kept track of these events, many seem to believe that every time Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, or Brangelina as they are sometimes called, are in the press that, somehow, Jennifer Aniston ends up being news not long after and, sadly for her, those who believe that this is more than coincidence, maintain that the news is always of the breakup sort.

So, who really knows if they've actually broken up or not? Is this all about publicity or is this real life? Either way, it's hard not to feel for Jennifer Aniston who first endured such devastating heartbreak when her marriage ended (and Brad Pitts new life with Angelina Jolie began) and seems to have nothing but repeat relationship performances since then. I guess it's normal in the dating world for people to date a few months, maybe a year, and then move on. But it must be difficult to endure when news is reported that you've been "dumped" or that you've got some sort of relationship curse going on. What's normal for everyone else though, is often anything but for celebrities.

So while we wait and see what actually unfolds with Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer, someone might want to tell Jen that, if it is over, maybe she should just take a break for a while, chill out and learn how to be happy alone or, now here's a stretch, try just being friends for a good long while first.
