Did Kanye West Steal Stronger Off His Graduation Album

Rich Jones
According to an article posted on Rapgodfathers, Kanye West may have stolen his most successful song ever to be released. Vince P." Peters filed a lawsuit on June 25, 2010 claiming that he wrote the track in 2006 and then played it for a business associate of Kanye's. Seven months later, he was surprised to find out that Kanye enjoyed the song. In fact, he enjoyed it so much that he decided to record the song himself and lift significant portions of the track in order to create his own version of Stronger. This song would later appear on the Graduation album released by Kanye West in 2007. This album went on to sell 2 million copies while the single sold 3 million copies. This single was also one of the most downloaded tracks in the history of iTunes and that means West could owe a lot of royalties.

Peters is also seeking a trail on this matter within the month of July in addition to an undisclosed amount of damages. It is quite obvious that there is no way this trail will actually take place this month because that isn't the way that the system works. You can't just request a trail when you like and the system is often backed up. This means that getting to trail can take quite some time. If Peters doesn't like that then he should have filed his lawsuit in 2007 when this occurred. It is very easy to point the finger at the entertainer and say that it is possible he lifted the song. Sure, it is very possible that Kanye lifted the track. However, if he did steal the song and it belonged to you what would you do? Why would anyone wait three years after the release of the album in order to seek damages? That doesn't make sense and since the release of this album Kanye has completed work on his 808s album in addition to a VH1 Storytellers CD that included a performance of this single. If the song were stolen three years ago you would have gone to court right away. What type of person would wait three years and then demand that he has a court date within the next week? Peters is obviously not very rational and he believes Kanye West stole Stronger from him. Is it possible that he imagines the entire lifting concept?
