The reason for this premature hair loss is because there are substances in some shampoos called surfactants. Surfactants are chemicals which have the main purpose of removing dirt and are used in soaps and shampoos, although they should be used in soap only. Different shampoos have different types of these chemicals and different concentration. They are supposed to clean your hair without damaging it, but often the opposite result happens.
It is important to determine whether the shampoo you are using may contribute to the deterioration of your hair. An effective and fast method, although not pain-free, is to check if your eyes burn when exposed to the shampoo you are using. If they do, chances are it contains unhealthy surfactants and an imbalanced PH. Shampoos must have a balanced PH; too acidic or too basic is bad for you. This is why you should choose a shampoo with a PH between 5 and 7.
Another ingredient commonly used in shampoos is called sodium sulfate. In most cases it is in very low concentrations and it may cause only insignificant damage if any, but you must watch out when its content is abundant. This chemical is an irritant; you can feel it in your eyes instantly if you get some of it in them, and it may cause dermatitis in high concentrations. It can also damage your hair and scalp.
In order to stop the damage caused by the factors mentioned above or even reverse the harm done, you need to change your shampoo immediately. Start using shampoos with more natural ingredients. Shampoos with a neutral PH between 5 and 7 may also help to repair the damage done to your hair and your scalp. There are some shampoos that include hydration agents that will also contribute to the overall health of your hair.
The inclusion of some herbal elements in some shampoos may also increase the repair speed and help you control the baldness. Ingredients such as Ale Vera and Saw Palmetto are believed to stimulate healthy growth or at least slow down hair loss.
