Did Mariah Carey Make a Major Blunder with Her Recent Behavior?

Being a Celebrity Means that Every Move You Make is Captured for All Time

Life seems to have been going so well for Mariah Carey over the last couple of years. She married Nick Cannon in 2008 and despite the naysayers criticizing the world-wind romance between her and Nick, Mariah has seemed blissfully happy ever since. She's flourishing in both her career and her personal life at the same time. Life seemingly couldn't be better for her.

So, why on earth would Mariah show up to a public venue, an awards ceremony of all places and appear drunk while accepting her award? Surely she knows that negative publicity is never a good thing, especially when the moment is forever captured on video.

TMZ reported that at the Palm Springs Film Festival, that took place Tuesday, January 5th, Mariah was accepting an award for her role in the movie 'Precious' and gave what appeared to be a drunken acceptance speech.

Her slurred, rambling acceptance speech has since caused a media storm. The video of her acceptance "speech" has been shown 24/7 around the world on television and the internet. Unfortunately, after Tuesday nights blunder, Mariah is under the microscope, in a negative way.

Today, TMZ has reported that at the People's Choice Awards last night, Mariah appeared to be wearing a dress that was not only very tight, but difficult to walk in. The first bit of speculation was that she was possibly intoxicated again, but her speech seemed to sound fine.

However, despite the fact that her speech went well, there is still speculation about why she could not walk that well. Was it the dress or was Mariah drunk?

During a time when Mariah Carey's life has been going so well, one bad press moment can change people's perceptions. The negative publicity will probably only be short-lived, when it's all said and done. Mariah has weathered much worse storms than this. Fortunately for Mariah, she is a resilient person who is not easily brought down. Her fans still love her and she loves her fans.

It's not unusual for people to have a little too much to drink, but for celebrities, they have to watch their P's and Q's because someone is Always watching and listening. Hopefully, the world will give Mariah Carey the same benefit of the doubt that the average person would get.

Celebrities are not perfect. Their lives are not perfect.
