Did Michael Jackson die of a drug overdose? The question looms in the air as the "King of Pop" is dead today at just 50 years old of a massive heart attack. Michael Jackson may have accidental overdose on prescription pills according to family attorney Brian Oxman who tearfully and cryptically hinted on CNN news at the fact that Michael Jackson could have died of an overdose of prescription pills and that he may have had a drug problem. He also hinted that Michael was surrounded with "enablers".

Michael Jackson had a broken back and leg which probably required powerful prescription pain killers which can be highly addictive and a very easy to overdose on. Many people every year overdose on prescription drugs, especially in combination with alcohol, it forms a deadly cocktail that can cause heart attacks and dangerous drops in respiration resulting in suffocation as well. Michael Jackson had recently been getting ready to go on a long and grueling concert in London. So his death comes as a shocking blow to us all, especially the ones who were looking forward to seeing him preform in London.

The fact that Michael Jackson was addicted to prescription pills has been well documented, in his 2007 molestation trial, this was one of the main themes. He admitted to taking the prescription pills and being addicted to them, he also has had a bunch of health problems. It is really impossible to say what Michael Jackson died from at this time, but the fact that he may have been addicted to prescription pills definitely is a wild card in the tragic and early untimely death of Michael Jackson. If he overdosed on drugs, it calls into question the responsibility of the doctors who prescribed these pills to him and nationally, how safe are these pills for the public to take. How addictive are these prescription pain killers, and other addictive type prescription pills.

It will not be known if it is an overdose until the toxicology report comes out on Michael Jackson, but the abuse of prescription pills would definitely help explain some of his odd behavior over the past years, as well as explain some of his health problems and his death. If he did in fact die of a drug overdose, which seems to be likely given his untimely death at just 50 years of age, and his long documented addiction to the pills, it would definitely be a tradgedy on the proportions of the likes of Elvis Presley.
