Interestingly, each of these have been proven decidedly false - although they are often disputed, much needs to be said that Matthew, Luke, and John were indeed contemporary eyewitnesses to the entire event and their motivations for writing what would later be known as the Gospel require historical analysis. After all, what kind of credibility would Matthew have if he, a former tax collector, were writing incomprehensible garbage to a people who could still recall the events he was speaking about? How would anyone take Luke, a gentile historian, seriously if his record to Theophilus were in err? It's important to consider these things in their historical context.
Meanwhile, Josephus made mention of both Jesus and Pilate, in essence offering a third party support to the claims of the Gospel. The tombs of contemporary figures key to the Gospel have been found, ranging from Pilate to Caiaphas, and historical records exist detailing the lives of those at the time.
Still the claims exist - which ushers the question. If one applies a similar standard to the second largest religion in the world, how would that bode for their figure?
According to Islam, there is but one God (Allah or any of his other 99 names) and Muhammad was his Prophet, his Messenger on Earth. Through the Angel Gabriel, the Word was given to him and it was written down into the Quran, which acts as the direct message of Allah. Alright, so we've got that, but did Muhammad really exist?
The first most important thing to point out is that there are no images of Muhammad anywhere in the world. Indeed, the vigor with which Muslims battle to prevent Muhammad imagery don't do justice to the historicity of this figure. The closest thing to images are outlines of human figures with absent faces.
Meanwhile, there is very little secular record that he actually existed as a person. One Muhammad Ibn Ishaq ibn Yashar - otherwise just known as Iban Ishaq - wrote a book known as Life, in which he detailed the Prophet Muhammad. Unfortunately, this was in 750 A.D. - over a hundred years after the Prophet's death and does little to support the notion of his existence, little more than the Gospels do for Jesus that is.
Another issue that historians struggle with is Mecca. Indeed, the city exists now, but there are very few actual records to date that prove that there was a major site of religion and international trade as the Quran and Muslims claims. Indeed, there has been no non-Muslim record of a major site of Asian trade known as Mecca existing, calling into deep question the existence of such a place as it is detailed in Muhammad's life.
Many historians suggest that maybe there was no Muhammad as we know him today - but rather a figure erected at the behest of his "Companions" who needed a Christ-like figure for their own emerging religion. This would go a long way into explaining that absence of historical record and imagery of the Prophet.
It's very interesting to consider what kinds of crazy things you find when you shine the same level of scrutiny on religions such as Islam that you do on Christianity. One must inquire why it is so rarely done.

There is no need of sculptures or paintings to show that they exist. They lived to pass a message to worship the One and Only God.
Must you be painted, sculpted or photographed as a prove of your existance?
Further, archeological evidence shows that the Quran (Koran) was not written until sometime after 705AD. Moreover, the Dome of the Rock (Islam's third most holiest site) did not have any Quranic scriptures inscribed on it when it was finished being build in 691, which was supposedly long after Quranic scriptures were written. Any writing inscribed on the Dome at that time is clearly different than any Quranic writing. This is very odd and provides evidence that the Quran was not written during Mohammed's lifetime assuming he existed. I could go on an on about the interesting claims made by Muslims, including what is written in the Hadiths and the many absurd claims made by Muslims but it would clearly take too much space for this forum.
Also, Mohammed was not a Jew which makes it virtually impossible, according to Deuteronomy 18:18, for him to be a prophet. Muslims like to claim Deut 18:18 is foretelling the coming of Mohammed by saying that he was a lot like Moses who it is claimed wrote this verse. However, not only was Jesus more like Moses, but according to John 5:45, Jesus actually said that Moses wrote about Him. Also, it's clear from Deut 18:18 that any prophet that this verse might have been referring to must come from among the "brethren" of the Jewish people-in other words, this prophet must be an Israelite. Mohammed was not an Israelite/Jew and therefore could not be considered "brethren" of Jews, which is why all previous prophets were Israelites including Jesus, of course, who was a Jew. But this is just one of the many Hebrew scriptures and Christian New Testament scriptures that Muslims lie about in order to try to validate their prophet.
Mohammed was a thief, murderer, married a 6-year-old child who was still playing with dolls (Aisha) and he consummated the marriage when she was 9. And he only married Aisha so he could have a sex toy-this is not meant to be funny, it's a fact. Moreover, Muslims claim that Islam is an Abrahamic religion, yet the Quran is full of disparaging remarks about Jews and incites Muslims to kill them. Well, Abraham was a Jew so it's difficult to believe that any legitimate prophet would call for and/or condone the murder of innocent Jews. One of Mohammed first acts when he was to murder about 900 Jews at Yathrib (later Medina)-although some Islamic scholar dispute this. One thing for certain, the Hadiths describe Mohammed's robbing of caravans and having his critics murdered, one such person was a Jewish man named Abu Afak who urged people not to follow Mohammed. By the way, there is no archeological evidence that Medina was a major religious site at the time of Mohammed either.

Um, I think the author of this article needs to check THEIR sources.
The gospels are not (and in fact do not CLAIM to be) eyewitness accounts written by people who were there. I think you need to check your sources, or at least take a good hard look at secular/scholarly analyses.
As far as extra-biblical historical records contempraneous with the period during which Jesus lived - there are virtually none, and claiming that there ARE is disingenous and inaccurate.
The entries regarding Jesus in the works of Josephus were already suspected of being later 'additions' (cough, cough) to Josephus' writings as far back as the 19th century.
Most scholars believe that the gospels were written - at the earliest - around 68 A.D., which is plenty of time for people who were "around" during Jesus' life to either pass away or forget the details and minutae of his life (assuming there was anything to forget).
However I believe you either already know this and are simply presenting yo
