Free isn't a word you hear often, especially when coupled with the word college. But there are sometimes exceptions. Let me tell you about one.

WHAT: FREE College Day

WHEN: April 30, 2011 (Saturday)

TIME: 1:00 pm, 2:00 pm, 3:00 pm

DURATION OF CLASS: 45 minutes each

DESIGNED: Mostly for adults

WHERE: Johnson County Community College

ADDRESS: 12345 College Blvd, Overland Park, KS 66210

PHONE: 913-469-8500, ext. 3120

WHY: As a way for the college to say thank you to the community

COURSES: More than 200 classes in the arts, business, computers, language categories and others will be offered. (Personal Computer Safety and Privacy; Your Green Healthy Home; Financing a College Education and Fresh Homemade European Croissants are just a few choices)

CLASSES: Faculty and staff are volunteering their time and expertise

NOTE: Although it is free, all participants must register at www.jccc.edu/freecollegeday

There will also be live entertainment going on in the afternoon.

With more than 200 classes offered, you're sure to find something that will pique your interest. With classes only 45 minutes each, you could realistically take 3 of them. This learning experience might just be fun.

This is a great idea. The college is probably hoping that a few of the people who attend the classes become students.
