As an American from many of the most traditional standpoints, I am not going to say vehemently that yes we deserved what we got, yet. Yes it was wrong. Yes it was completely unfair and unjust and those people did not deserve to die. Yes, it should have been handled another way. However, it wasn't and when it comes down to it we were not there protecting ourselves and stopping something like this from happening.
I suppose part of the American philosophy has us believing that we're so invincible that there is no real need for protection at home. No one is going to touch us, right? Apparently, this is the wrong mindset to have.
I think about this issue from time to time as I contemplate where a better place to live would be. I do not wish to move because I am fearful. It is more about being embarrassed and ashamed. This country was founded on many great things by a handful of strong and knowledgeable men.
Today this country is weak. Our resolve is pathetic and our nature to succeed is unheard of. We have forgotten how to help fellow man and we have gone overboard on helping ourselves. I think it's a matter of too much, too soon. Americans have everything (or can) and have learned to take it all for granted. Better yet when they don't have something they find someone to blame for it.
Today these questions arose from my mind thanks to a movie. Actually, I think it was a miniseries on television. Covert One: The Hades Factor was originally a book and they turned it into a miniseries with Stephen Dorff, Blair Underwood, and Mira Sorvino. The show was about the effects that would take place if a biochemical agent was released into the air and the fall the government would take if people knew it was their fault for creating it in the first place.
There is one particular scene in the movie where a Muslim man has been injected with the virus, He is traveling to the United States to infect people. He gets to a checkpoint in the airport and shows up on the 'Don't Fly list' so they ask him what business he has and why he is flying. He clearly says.....textiles. However, when they open up his luggage they find a suitcase full of women's underwear.
So, here is a Muslim (anyone for that matter, but in this case he was Muslim) guy on the 'don't fly list' carrying a barrage of lingerie and they did not find this bothersome? The security guard closes the man's bag and lets him go.
There have been several exposes on the news about how five years later we have learned nothing from September 11, 2001. The airport security might take longer, but it is not anymore effective and we have still been left wide open for an attack.
It is not that implication that worries me in comparison with the movie though. Well, it might somewhat, but there is something more bothersome. Something I have been considering for quite some time. What if our government had something to do with 9/11?
It would be unintelligent of me to just assume anything the media says without question. The reason blogs are so successful is because bloggers are willing to say things that the average news media would never say. Now I am not saying the government crafted 9/11, but I am raising the question about whether it's a possibility. This isn't something the media could do.
However, it's important to explore all avenues. If you do the research on 9/11 you find many discrepancies in regards to what people were told happened. Logically speaking this one event led us to Iraq. This is a place I truly believe we were supposed to end up. I believe Bush was looking for a way to get us there. This would have been the most despicable way to get us into any war. However, if you want to convince America to enter a war, physical force is the way to go.
Even if he didn't craft the idea himself (quite frankly I am not sure he was smart enough) wasn't it his responsibility to make sure all leads on intelligence were followed up and handled correctly? In a country with as many resources and as much technology how did we allow the codes to be deciphered too late?
There is no excuse for second best whether Bush had anything to do with it or not. This was a government disaster that continues to be a disaster of gigantic proportions. Unfortunately, it will not end until America rids itself of George Bush or we become bankrupt and penniless from wasting our money on a cause that has no end, much less a purpose.

Post a CommentBy the way, MasterPo, Franklin DeLano Roosevelt allowed a first-strike on American soil before attacking Japan. Americans did not engage in the fight against Japan until after Pearl Harbor. Even though Japan was an Axis power. Of course, he also ordered the use of nuclear bombs to destroy Hiroshima and Nagasawki, Japan. Civilian casualties...both cities were complete losses. Nuclear fall out, radiation sickness. Oh, that ended the war and I decline to assume it was a good or bad decision, I haven't decided. And the agenda it served then? Establishing absolute control over Japan. We still have a military base in Japan...Okinawa, Japan.
When a person murders someone, the US condones taking the murderer's life. Over 3,000 people died on 9/11/01, over 3,000 soldiers have died since March of 2002. That's a lot of lives lost because 17 hi-jackers and countless other members of Al Qaeda decided it'd be a good day to bomb the World Trade Center. The US Military would follow blindly, because they follow orders; hard orders that take a rare kind of strength to follow. The military is full of Americans with a job to do, a career to keep. I love my military brethren, they are stronger than they know. Our President is not working for the benefit of the country. I, too, wonder if the government could have stopped the WTC bombings; how much of the responsibility lies in the current administration's hands. I think of Hitler and the Reichstag burning. One major incident that will rally the country in out rage. Good job.
