Diet and Beauty: From the Inside Out!

Laura Leiva
We've all heard the phrase, "You are what you eat". Since makeup can just do so much for skin and outer beauty, it's really what you eat that can make all the difference in the world. Not only does healthy eating affect how you feel, it can also affect how you look!

By adding nutritious foods to your diet, you can improve your complexion, maintain your shape and even gain energy. Stay away from fatty foods that are high in saturated fat or any other foods that make you feel sluggish. Here are a few things you can add to your diet, in moderation, that will help improve your overall well-being:

Red Wine has been known to be very beneficial when taken in moderation. Since grapes have lots of antioxidants, it can be actually be good for you to have that glass of wine every night.

Green Tea is very popular and well known. Not only is it high in antioxidants, but it really boosts the immune system. The ingredients in Green Tea fight cancer-causing radicals, and can even slightly boost metabolism.

Strawberries are a great cleanser for your insides. Aside from the great taste, strawberries are extremely high in Vitamin C, which in turn helps the body absorb iron from other foods you're eating. Not only are they great to have with a meal, using them as sweets can be a great way to enjoy dessert without the guilt.

Cranberries, as well as cranberry juice, can flush the body of toxins. Since they are a natural diuretic, they are often used to clean the system or get rid of infection. A glass of cranberry juice has lots of antioxidants, making it a delicious way to help your immune system as well as cardiovascular health.

Bananas are filled with potassium and natural sugar, making it easy to absorb into the bloodstream. This type of sugar works quickly and raises energy levels for a long amount of time. Potassium is good for the muscles, so by eating them you can reduce cramping. Eating dried banana chips are a healthy snack, and provide long lasting energy.

Garlic is another great way to add energy and antioxidants to your body. While it may not smell the best, it contains minerals that can prevent ailments. Garlic has long been used as an antibiotic and for maintaining healthy heart levels.

Yogurt contains bacteria called Acidophilus, which helps regulate natural bacteria found in the stomach. Yogurt is also rich in protein, calcium, vitamins and minerals, and can be used as part of a diet.

Green cabbage and other green leafy vegetables are a great source of iron. They're also high in vitamins and minerals, which is important if you're a vegetarian and need to find ways to supplement iron. These types of vegetables allow for healthy growth and development.
So, by adding healthy nutritious foods to your diet, you can not only cleanse your body of toxins, but also contribute to overall inner health. A good rule when filling your plate is to fill it with colorful fruits and vegetables. By simply doing this, you can be sure to get enough vitamins and minerals to ensure a healthy lifestyle.
