Diet, Daughter and UFOs

Where I've Been

Some place along the line, I became horrifically busy. I do ghost writing for clients in addition to writing under contract for another site. That normally keeps me quite busy but I always had time for A/C, until recently. Some of you have inquired about my health through emails or posts. You never received an answer. That's because I now have several thousand unread emails. It's time for clean up and change and this is the beginning.

During my time away, my daughter came home. HOOOORAYYYY! She's more than just my daughter; she's my best friend. I was a single mom from the time she was in sixth grade and if you consider the interaction with her father during marriage, all of her life. While the teen years were horrendous because she sought independence, her thirty and forty something years are wonderful for a renewed adult friendship.

Her company paid for her flight here to take care of a matter about an hour and a half from our home. She then extended her stay for several weeks and used some precious vacation time. During that time and a few weeks prior, I was busy getting as many assignments completed so I could take a vacation and then trying to keep up with clients while she was here. During her stay, several things happened.

The first thing to occur was my realization that I am incredibly out of shape. I only ride my bike occasionally now so my exercise regime is limited to getting up for coffee and running up the stairs to empty it after it hits my system. Of course, this is often a sprint. At a certain age, bladder control is no longer fodder for comedians but a true concern. While my diet is primarily veggies and fruit, it didn't seem to be enough to push me into the forever-healthy group.

Considering this, I've decided to start practicing alternative fasting and develop an exercise program to go with it. I don't need to lose weight so alternative fasting is perfect. One day, you simply eat under 300 calories and the next you can eat whatever you want when you participate in an alternative or intermittent fasting program.

The benefits are huge and I'll explain the process and science of it in later articles as I track my progress. So far, yesterday was my first fast day and I munched on a few cherry tomatoes when I was hungry. (Oh yes, our garden is doing well but the other night, I heard our huge pumpkin vine saying "Feed me!") While I normally forget to eat and don't feel hungry until I see food, I found myself starving as soon as I started fasting. The downfall occurred in the embodiment of about a fourth of a pint of sour cream and sun chips to go with it.

I'm going to add an exercise regimen. I've read about the mysterious forces the Qigong masters elicit and often thought I'd like to learn it. That day has come. There's only one drawback to the entire program. I have no idea of my state of health right now and don't intend to find out. I'm physician averse. I still take the occasional antibiotic but use herbs to heal what I can because of allergic reactions to most antibiotics. Instead, I'm going to use testing of endurance and personal observation.

So, What about the UFO?

While my daughter was here, we both entered a local poker tournament. I managed to cash so we stayed quite late. As we approached the house, my daughter stopped and said, "When did the Big Dipper get another star?" The sky was beautiful and clear which allowed us to see the addition to the dipper. The star then started to move to the side. Suddenly it went faster, paused and then zipped rapidly to our left and out of sight. It was faster than anything I've ever seen. We judged it too high for a plane and too erratic for a satellite. With this in mind, it was a UFO, at least to us since we couldn't identify it.

As I sit here typing with my tin foil cap propped on my head for protection, I look forward to catching up on reading and writing even more articles. A/C is my fun site where I can share my thoughts and occasionally bring some enjoyment and enlightenment to my readers from my observations.
