Dieting Mistakes

Why Fad Diets Do Not Work

MarDes
I think that the biggest diet mistake that most people make is that they go on a fad diet, lose a lot of weight and then put it right back on and wonder why. Well the answer is quite simple really. They didn't change their lifestyle and so they went right back to their bad habits and thus put all of the weight right back on. There are so many to diets that come and go and we have tried them all from Atkins to the sonoma diet and many more.

My personal expirence is that everytime that I had tried to go on a diet in the past I have failed because I deprive myself of the things that I loved and then when I finally got fed up and just ate them I went hog wild and then I would quit the diet. I think that it is very important to look at the changes that we are all making to lose weight as a lifestyle rather than a diet, the word diet leaves you under the impression that it has to end eventually. The other thing that I suggest is that if you do "fall off the wagon" one day that you don't just keep going, you need to pick yourself back up the next day and get back on the wagon. I have often, on many diets, gave up and went right back to my old eating habits, but realized that it was unhealthy and I stopped overeating.

Obesity is one of the most widespread issues today. For the very first time in history, a United Nations survey found that the total number of overweight people all over the world rivals the total number of underweight people. According to the World Health Organization, obesity is now regarded as an increasing global epidemic, and if steps are not taken immediately, millions of people worldwide will suffer from a wide range of weight related health issues.

People say that they just dont have the will power, but I really don't think that it has anything to do with willpower. I know that for me it took having my kids to get serious about my health. I would always start a diet in the past and it would be gone within a week or so. Now I have a reason to live and want to be healthy and be able to do things with my family.I have to admit that it was really hard for me and food was comfort and I was an emotional eater, I hate when happy, sad, angry or just out of boredom. I had to take some serious action.

This can be achieved in following ways:
1. Reduce high calorie diet: Do not completely give up any certain kind of food to reduce calorie intake, instead just cut down on the portions of that food. Another approach can be that keep shedding off those extra calories by regular workouts.
2. Maintain metabolism: Most common mistake that happens is that people entirely give up on calorie intake which leads to lower metabolic rate due to which losing weight becomes more difficult and slower and leads to more craving for a particular type of food. Instead maintain metabolic rate by consuming low calorie diet and exercise, which is a healthier and more consistent way of losing weight.
3. More intake of water: water removes most of the toxins from body and helps in proper functioning of body. Drink 3-5 liters water everyday
4. More intakes of fruits and juices: drink plenty of juices. They detoxify your body and are rich in vitamins, fiber and antioxidants. Try and make fresh juice instead of processed and packed ones. If you do not have that much time then look for "100% natural" labels on packed juices.

This has worked for me and I can say that I have lost a few pounds by doing it naturally and counting,I didn't buy any books, tapes, pills or some 2-day slim juice. Its really up to you whether you decide to make that change of lifestyle and start eating healthy and feel better, its not as easy as it sounds but the long term result is well worth it. For those who are trying to lose weight in a healthy manner, but lack motivation or encouragement, there are always support groups online and centers around your neighborhood, its also nice if you have a buddy where you can call or turn to for support. Have a happy diet!
