The Department of Labor was created in 1913, and promoted welfare to Americans in need and helps the enforce laws that protect the rights of workers. The president nominates the Secretary of this Department. Currently out Secretary of Labor is Elaine Chao. The Labor Department has many regional offices in ten different cities around the world. The members of the Department of Labor create numerous laws. Some of these laws include having safe and healthy workplaces, helping people who are un-employed find a job, as well as sponsoring training programs. Its purpose is to over-rile un-employment insurance systems that give emergency financial needs for individuals who don't work. It keeps track of the salary prices, and employment information. The Labor Department is watchful over jobs, so they don't turn down someone because of race, sex, age, religion beliefs, or any disability. Also, the department gives local government money to maintain their job training programs for people who are out of a job and sets basic minimum wage and overtime pay standards.
The Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB) agency handles international tasks of the Department of Labor, this agency works with the Secretary of International Labor Affairs. The Secretary of Labor also helps with the international actions. Much of the work done in this agency consists of researching and calculating all worldwide trade, immigration, and additional labor policies in support of U.S. foreign labor policy objectives. The ILAB works with many numerous Government agencies to maintains a stable, secure international economic system, where all workplaces will have a healthier environment. The Department of Labor helps protect and keep our children safe from dangerous work with the International Child Labor. Many tasks are done in this agency, and ILAB reports the issues with international labor and international treaties with immigration, and labor. Lastly, this agency makes sure that all our international trade is excellent throughout the world.
The Federal Interagency Coordinating Council (FICC) Agency is an assistant cabinet with the Department of Education, as well as many other Departments. In 1991, Congress made the FICC into the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. The FICC makes recommendations to the federal agency to help children with disabilities learn better. It also, makes sure that parents who do have children with disabilities will receive the services that they need for their children's education. This agency works with the numerous programs that are for young children. It also works with infants and toddlers with disabilities and provides useful services by the federal, state, and local agencies. Children with any type of disability whether it is physical, mental, health, developmental, or learning will have the needs they want provided to them. The FICC's mission is to make sure that all children in the U.S. who have difficulty learning will receive the extra help that they need.
