Different Styles of Gomden Meditation Cushions

Before buying a meditation cushion, determine where the meditation will take place. Will you be meditating outside on soft grass or inside on a hardwood floor? It's very difficult to sit in one place on a flat surface for a long period of time without any support. If you prefer soft grass, you need a lighter pillow. For a hardwood floor, choose a solid style of foam.

If sitting in a cross-legged position for long periods of time is uncomfortable for you, consider buying a Gomden Meditation Cushion. The Gomden is a thick, rectangular block of foam rubber, covered by either cotton or poly batting, which is then covered by heavy, durable fabric like cotton or cotton twill. All sizes of cushions have zippered, cotton covers that are machine washable. The same colors are available for each size, except for the Designer Gomden and the Wedding Gomden.

The Standard Gomden is 18" by 12.5" and 6" high. The zippered, cotton cover is removable and can be machine washed. This cushion retails for $72.00. Colors available are black, royal blue, navy, and purple, forest green, natural, red, gold, khaki, burgundy, and brown.

The Three-Quarter Size Gomden is the next size down from the Standard. It measures 17" by 12", and 4.5" high. If you need more support for your knees and ankles, try a Zabuton with your Gomden. The Three-Quarter Size retails for $64.00. If you choose the Zabuton, the Kapok Medium starts at $46.00.

At 3" high, the Half Size Gomden is 18'by12.5". This smaller cushion still has the high quality quilted top, and YKK zipper. The Half Size retails for $49.00.

Designed with the traveler in mind, the Mini Size Gomden is one third the size of the standard. This small cushion is perfect for the petite petitioner. The mini retails for $40.00.

The Designer Gomden features a Faux Center. The carrying handle makes transport easier. The only color available is Khaki. This gomden retails for $79.

The fancy Wedding Gomden & Zabuton Covers with satin bengaline with brocade. Not limited to weddings, this gomden can be used for any special occasion. The retail price is $99.00.

Also available is a Beginner's Meditation Gomden Combo Special. There are three different books available.
