Different Types of Salvaged Goods

The Informer
As an eBay seller, I recognize salvaged items as a legitimate source of income. You can pick up salbaged items in bulk at dirt cheap prices and resell them for a hefty profit. But what are Salvaged items? Here we will explore different types of salvaged items.

Unclaimed Freight

When retailers order truckloads of merchandise for their store, they expect their order to come through as they ordered it. If, for some reason, the order has missing elements to it, or is just not complete, the entire order can be refused by the retailer and the wholesaler is left with a truckload of merchandise. This is often liquidated for an extremely small amount of money. This is where you come in. You can "salvage" these goods for pennies on the dollar, and resell the goods wherever you want, whether it is eBay, or your brick and mortar store.

Returns

In most of the US, retailers can't resell returns. It is most likely that they will sell it to liquidators, so they don't completely waste that piece of merchandise. You can buy this merchandise from the liquidators for relatively cheap, and resell it.

Liquidation

What are liquidators? Liquidators are kind of like retailers, but on a bigger scale. They buy pallets and pallets of merchandise, and then resell it smaller (yet still bulk) amounts to other retailers and such. You can either buy these smaller lots, or become a liquidator yourself! If you choose the latter, keep in mind that you will be buying truckloads of merchandise, thousands and thousands of dollars worth, and reselling it. This is isn't small fry on eBay and Amazon, this is the big leagues. So if you choose to do this, be prepared. Be very prepared.

Seasonal Salvageables

Since there are some products that will only sell at one part of the year, retailers want to get rid of this merchandise when it is out of season. You can easily pick up this merchandise at next to nothing prices and keep it until It's back in season. Think of this as an investment. You're simply buying something when it's at a low price, then waiting for it to go back up in value, except in this case, you KNOW it's going to go back up in value.

So, in conclusion, you can see that Salvaged items can be a great source of merchandise for resale. So go out there and get some!
