All of these items can be used in decorating the wood spoon. Use lace, small lace flowers, ribbon, rub-ons, small bows, colored flat wood miniature shapes or unfinished miniature shapes. Of course the unfinished shapes can be painted or stained, depending on the shape. Both the colored or unfinished wood miniatures come in the shape of fruits, animals, flowers, kitchen items, hearts and more. Other items to use to decorate the wooden spoons are hot glue, and small magnets. Also, the size of the miniatures and rub-ons will be determined by the size of the scoop of the wood spoon. The scoop most of the time are the same in size. However the smaller handle will affect the size of the scoop. Also all of these items can be purchased at any craft store as well as on-line.
When beginning the decoration on the wood spoon decide which will be used, a rub-on or wooden mini. After making that selection, then choose which color lace and ribbon. Next determine if the wood spoon will be a magnet or hanging design. These decisions will be made according to the length of the wood spoon as well as the size of the scoop. The larger scoop will have a better affect with the rub-on. The smaller the scoop the smaller the rub-on will need to be . Although the small wood design gives them both a nice touch. Of course both the rub-on and small wood piece can be used to decorate a large wood spoon if desired.
Now using the hot glue to attach the wood mini piece to the scoop or the handle of the wood spoon depending on size. Next glue lace around the scoop, also bow on handle with lace flower. Then fasten a small piece of ribbon for a hook or a magnet on back with the glue. Follow the same directions when using the rub-ons. The finished decorated wood spoon makes for a nice kitchen or dinning room hanging or refrigerator magnet.
