Digestive Advantage Gas Defense Formula, a Great Product for a Healthy Digestive System Utilizing Probiotics

John Gugie
Digestive Advantage Gas Defense Formula is a relatively new product that claims to stop intestinal gas before it starts and eliminate bloating, abdominal pressure, and flatulence in general.

Digestive Advantage is made by Ganeden Biotech Inc. which is a private company in Cleveland Ohio that was founded in 1997. Currently, it is the largest seller in the United States for over-the-counter probiotics, which is used in its Digestive Advantage and Sustenex products that are sold at over 70,000 retailers. Ganeden has won the Product Innovation Award from Frost & Sullivan 2008 North American Food and Beverage Probiotics and received the Product Innovation Award in the 2010 Wellness Foods Readers' Choice Awards.

How it Works

GanedenBC30 (Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, 6086) is the patented probiotic bacteria used in all of Ganeden's oral products. It helps support a healthy digestive system by being able to survive manufacturing and in the body's stomach acids for prolonged benefits.

The Digestive Advantage Gas Defense Formula utilizes a dual-action process that helps the digestion of gas-causing carbohydrates and the probiotic cultures colonize in the intestines to maintain healthy digestion.

Dosage

The dosage is one (on rare cases two) tablet per day, every day. It is recommended that you not skip or abruptly stop taking it because it needs time to build up high levels of probiotics within your body and remain at that level for the most effectiveness.

Digestive Advantage Gas Defense Formula costs approximately $.40 per tablet or a box of 32 tablets for about $10.99 at most retailers. This is about a month's supply.

The Ganeden website says that this formula is available at over 40,000 retailers including Rite Aid, Walgreen's, Wal-Mart, Meijer, CVS/pharmacy, K-Mart, Amazon.com, Drugstore.com, Rofay.com, DoctorVicks.com, and many other stores.

My Experience

I have muscular dystrophy which is a disability that causes muscle weakness in all muscles including the stomach. One side effect of this is the digestive system doesn't work as well as it should, so food and liquids stay in my system longer than they should. This causes problems with gas.

Over the years, I have tried many products for my digestive system and gas with little or no success. Doctors generally recommend over-the-counter medications containing simethicone, which is usually used in most gas relief products such as Gas-X. I have used Gas-X and store and generic equivalents for years with some relief but my body has probably grown immune to most of its benefits.

Earlier this year my mother brought Digestive Advantage Gas Defense Formula back from the pharmacy and I thought it was just another one of those generic products I saw everywhere with big prices, big promises, and little or no actual help. I figured it was worth a shot and I tried it.

Within 2 days I felt the medication working on me and my bloated feeling mostly disappeared. It didn't completely take my gas issues away but it worked probably 2 or 3 times better than simethicone ever did. I have been using Digestive Advantage since February 2010 every day and will continue to do so for the immediate future. It might not work for everyone but it works for me and with a money back guarantee you have nothing to lose.

I am glad that Digestive Advantage comes in tablet form and not easy to swallow capsules that are never easy for me to swallow. However, I believe that the company is going to be changing to capsules with an extra-large dose of the same formula. I like the tablets which are very small and have a sweet flavor on the outside so I get none of that medicine aftertaste present with other medicines.

If you suffer from excessive gas, maybe you should try Digestive Advantage Gas Defense Formula. There are also special formulas for irritable bowel syndrome, lactose defense, daily constipation, and a probiotic formula for general digestive system health.
