DiGiorno Frozen Pizza Product Revuew

You've probably seen the commercials: "It's not delivery, it's DiGiorno!" These ads imply that this frozen pizza is so good, people will mistake it for takeout. There is some truth to that! There are several varieties available in the supermarket: Four-Cheese Pizza, Supreme Pizza, Sausage and Onion, Pepperoni, and several others. There is the Rising Crust Style, Flatbread Crust, and Cheese-filled Crust. In other words, there's pretty much a pizza for everyone's taste.

I have chosen the DiGiorno Rising Crust Pepperoni Pizza: This is a one pound 12.3 ounce pizza, topped with pepperoni made from pork, chicken, and beef. It's quite simple to prepare. You preheat a conventional oven to 400 degrees, remove the packaging and place the pizza directly on the oven rack. (If you prefer a softer crust, you should place the pie on a cookie sheet before placing it in the oven.) Bake for 20 to 23 minutes for crisp crust, 23 to 27 for soft crust. (Cooking time may vary depending on your particular oven.)

The crust on this particular pizza does, indeed, rise while baking. At the end of cooking time the cheese will be bubbly and the crust thick and crisp, reminiscent of Pizza Hut's Pan Pizza. There are ample amounts of pepperoni, cheese, and sauce to satisfy; taste is as good as some delivery pizzas, and better than others.

The price varies from one store to another, but you can expect to pay $5.50 to $7.00 for this 11" six-serving pie.

This is not a low calorie, low-salt food, although the fat and salt can be cut considerably by choosing the Four-Cheese Pizza and adding fresh veggies such as green pepper, onions, and/or mushrooms yourself. Keep in mind that you may have to increase the cooking time under those circumstances. All in all, this pizza can be a tasty, quick, spur of the moment dinner or snack.

Sounds yummy. I like the idea of adding more veggies and cheese. Great review!
