DiGiorno Tuscan Style Chicken Pizza - Food Review

Lisa Riggs
Pizza is one of my family's favorite treats. We enjoy dining on our favorites for lunch or dinner, and also take chances on new varieties. The DiGiorno brand is known for it's pizzeria quality with a supermarket price. We recently gave their Tuscan Style Chicken flavor a try.

I love adding the protein of chicken to family meals and strive to sneak in as many vegetables as possible. I was definitely drawn to this frozen pizza from the picture on the front of the box. The thin crust pie with chunks of grilled white meat chicken and an abundance of spinach on each slice definitely swayed me into purchasing this product. I paid only $4.99 for a fourteen ounce pie. Making a price comparison to the other brands in the supermarket freezer, this was definitely a reasonable cost.

Preparation of this meal was quite easy and very convenient for a weekday meal. After heating the oven to four hundred degrees, the frozen pizza gets removed from the plastic wrap and placed directly on the center oven rack. It then gets baked for approximately eleven to fourteen minutes. The timer should be set for eleven minutes and then the oven checked intermittently until the pie is nicely browned on the bottom and the cheese sufficiently melted.

One third of the product contains three hundred calories. There is fourteen grams of Fat, with six grams of Saturated Fat. There is only one gram of Trans Fat in this serving size. Those consumers with dietary concerns should note that this amount contains thirty five milligrams of Cholesterol and seven hundred milligrams of Sodium. There is also twenty eight grams of Total Carbohydrate and three grams of Sugar per serving. Those of us who love to indulge in pizza can take heart that there is some positive nutrition in this meal as well. One third of the pie offers three grams of Dietary Fiber, sixteen grams of Protein, ten percent of Vitamin A, twenty five percent of Calcium and eight percent of Iron.

I would definitely give this frozen dinner a full five star food rating. The crust was thin and crispy and held up the ingredients well. There was a nice amount of succulent white meat chicken on each section of the pie, as well as healthy spinach and tomatoes. I am a garlic lover, so I loved the spicy garlic pieces as well. I would definitely purchase DiGiorno Tuscan Style Chicken again, and wholeheartedly recommend it to others.

I love their pizzas, but I'd never get the spinach past my husband! He would turn up his nose at that. Good review.
