Digital Cameras: An Improvement with Added Convenience

Anonymous
Digital cameras are quickly becoming the most commonly used kind of camera in production today. There are multiple reasons for this switch. First, everything else is going digital. From music players to video cameras to cell phones, everything else is going digital. Analog is just a ghost from the past.

The second reason why cameras have gone digital is synthesis. Corporations know that the capacity of the computer to store large amounts of information is useful when it comes to photographs. Instead of a bulky and fragile photo album, it seems that people want to put their photographs on a computer instead. This way the photographs can be printed, without having to be done professionally and still backed up. Even if the computer crashes, users can still put the photographs on a disk. Corporations have started producing digital cameras because they see that in synthesizing cameras and computers, they create convenience for the consumer and, in doing so, generate profits for themselves. The final reason why cameras have become digital has even more ramifications: controllability.

While some analog cameras have a few features, such as zoom, digital cameras are considerably more controllable. Most, if not all, digital cameras come equipped with an LCD screen. This screen allows the user to see the picture as soon as it has been taken. With analog cameras, the picture could not be reviewed until the film was developed. The problem here is that the picture may not have been a good one. For instance, there may have been a glare or the people in the picture may have looked the other way for a moment. With a digital camera, the user can immediately review the picture. This way, if there is a problem, they can simply retake the picture. Many analog camera users have to suffer the disappointment of a precious moment being lost even though they took a picture of it because of poor lighting or something else they did not notice right away.

There are other reasons for the digital camera's rise to prominence. For instance, the convenience of not needing film comes into play here. How many family vacations have been postponed so that someone could go to the store and get the film they needed to record the moments. This is not an issue with the digital camera.

Another trend is for the digital camera to shrink. Although they tend to be heavier than analog cameras, digital cameras are becoming just as easy to carry as their older counterparts. This helps users to have them available at just the right time. If a camera fits in your shirt pocket, why not take it with you to the big game or big party?

As digital cameras continue to dominate it is only a matter of time until analog cameras disappear.
