Digital Nature

Shyam Saksena
Every morning I look forward to my morning walks in the nearby woods. A compact digital camera slips into my pocket, as I start my jaunt. Everything about nature is mystifying and soon a sense of cosmic unity with the world around us, takes over. One feels so light of spirit! Generally I am entranced by the varying shapes, patterns and ever-changing colors of the leaves, with the onset of a new season. Same is the case with the colorful riot of leaves during fall, and how nature covers the ground with a magical tapestry. From the ground, it gives one vision of Nature's glory. And from the air it appears, as if millions of bouquets have been laid out, to greet you on your landing on earth.
Once while returning home, a dried fallen leaf caught my attention. I picked it up and brought it home. I scanned the leaf and then gave it the Photoshop treatment. That leaf's journey from a single leaf to a colorful bright motif is a tribute to the empowerment that the PC offers to a laymen like me. Whether others will judge this as art or kitsch, I do not know. It was a thrilling experience for me, nevertheless.

    1. bringing fallen leaf home and elating it displayes Mother Teresa quality in SK Saksena.
    2. At this age walking and that too with a digital cam shows his enthusiasm and liveliness. Keep it up. I envy him.
    3. Digital technology has been reported to do wonders. I read about a decade ago that if an inferior actor can somehow do a few scenes, a feature film can be made with him as hero since the rest of the acting will be done by some talented actor and by digital treatment the ultimate face seen acting in the film will be tht of an inferior actor. It was an article describing the potentiality of digital technology. I donno whether this was implemented. But what u have done is wonderful Sir - Prem Chand Sahajwala
