Digital Wedding Photography Techniques

When people get married, one of the first things they plan for is to have photos taken on their special day. The photos they keep in their album are memories of one of the most important events in their lives. They bring out emotions that happened on their special day. These photos preserve their memories. As these photos are important, couples usually will hire professional photographers for their wedding day. Usually these professional photographers wait for the moment to take those special shots. Depending on what you pay to photographers, especially if you are on a tight budget, the amount of photos taken may be limited. You may want more photos. In this case, why not hire a friend or family member to take extra quality photos. With a digital camera, this now is possible. Below I will outline various simple techniques to take extra quality photos.

1. To take a photo of the couple getting married for example, make sure that the background is good, for example make sure that there are not many people standing behind the couple. Also if you like a particular background but it is not easy to focus on the couple you can correct this problem by for example taking the shot from their shoulders up.

2. If you are taking a shot of the couple and you want to include certain people for example, family members, in the photo, you can zoom in or out of the photo.

3. If you want to take various other shots and some people are wearing glasses, you need to prevent the glaring effect that appears when you are using a flash. To prevent the glaring effect, just get the person(s) wearing glasses to tilt their head down or sideways. Just ask politely.

4. To prevent dark images from appearing, do not take a shot of anyone against the light.

5. In addition to planned shots, also take unplanned shots of people going about their business during the wedding to capture people in their natural state and not in a planned posing shot.

6. Make sure you have packed everything for your digital camera. For example take an extra battery and an appropriate memory card to take enough photos.

7. Do not use low resolutions especially if the photo will be displayed on the wall later. Keep in mind that the higher the resolution that is use, the larger you can develop the photos.

8. If some of the photos taken are not suitable to your standards, you can use a photo editing software to enhance the quality of the photos.
