Dillyeo.Com: Website Review

What's the Dillyeo?

Judith Allison
There's a new start up website that is turning internet shopping on its head. Amazon, eBay, and Overstock, watch out. Dillyeo.com (pronounced deal-e-o) may be the best thing for bargain hunters since shopping carts. Harkening back to 90s slang, the site queries, "What's the Dillyeo?" and offers a single item for sale each day. As they state on the site; "Dillyeo is a daily deal website that sells one cool item a day for the lowest price on the net." It's like a store with one rack, but it is all clearance priced. The site even offers the prices of web competition in the "What's the Dillyeo with This?" section.

Past Dillyeos are available as a reference to just how good of a deal they are talking about: as much as seventy percent off manufacturer's suggested retail price. With its clean interface and simple set up, while dillyeo.com is not nearly anything to show off and a web design convention, it definitely is worth talking about. The Dillyeo deals range from water coolers to ear buds and so much in between, it's worth checking in daily, just to check on what they've got. Not that I'm condoning impulse purchasing, but when the deal is this good, the buyer's remorse can't be that bad.

When you first arrive at the site, the front page is mostly taken up by the day's Dillyeo discount. There are links to past deals, your account, and your cart. Nothing flashy; it even borders on minimalist. Also on the front page is an area where other users can post comments. Just as with other bigger, meaner sites, the customer comments offer you the unbiased (and apparently unedited) insight of other consumers. You can also win the day's "What's the Dillyeo?" in a daily raffle just for signing up. By signing up, they mean submitting your email address, which they promise not to sell. In truth, if they did, I wouldn't be mad. The deals are so good, you have to wonder how else they'd make money.

If you really like what you have found on their site, there is an option to have your friends, family, and everyone in your address book asking "What's the Dillyeo?", too. If you submit referrals, dillyeo.com will offer incentives, gift cards, gas cards, and other prizes. For the forwarders of the web world, this is a nifty option to have. A sweet deal can only get better with a Dillyeo discount.

In summation, Dillyeo.com is making impulse buying that much more expensive, and that much cheaper at the same time. Granted, a small appliance is not a pack of gum, but the bargain does make it easier to see where you really needed the (blender, speaker system, waterproof digital camera) Dillyeo discounts in the first place. And, if you can strictly hold some self restraint and only buy what you actually actually need, this is a great market for finding the very best price around. You'll find yourself asking, "What's the Dillyeo?"

They can't be contacted! Made an order 2 weeks ago. Created an account. Account won't allow sign in. Asked for new PW. They sent. Account won't accept it either. Tried to open an account again--reply was "already exists". Site only allows contact via "help desk"--after sign in !!.Opened another account with different isp. Sent them info on order.-no reply.Their site says "upgrading" & "only way to contact is via their message desk". Suggestions ??

  • STAY AWAY FROM DILLYEO! 12/15/2010

    I ordered 3 t-shirts...nothing special $30
I sent them an email asking where my items were 18 days later, because I hadn't gotten a tracking number.....My order wasn't eve shipped yet! PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY WITH THESE FOOLS! What kind of rinky-dink company takes more than 2 weeks to even look at an order??

For what it's worth, its been over a year since the last comment, but I just placed an order with them less than 2 weeks ago and I should be getting my package tomorrow. They have been nothing but helpful so far to me. Depends I guess on the quality of the product that they sell which I will soon find out.

as long as you do not mind waiting a month, they do have some quality stuff. I ordered a laser pointer, status of the item never changed to anything other than processing, I talked to support several times, they said it was customs, or the mail service, then the laser finally arrived, two days latter I got a confirmation Email saying that my Item had been shipped, LOL. I would not recommend them.

Ordered from them 23 days ago and my product has yet to be shipped. They respond to my questions, but with information that doesn't help me. don't order from them. I hope i can get my money back

Product arrived within a week but was defective out of the box. Dilleo talks about their great service, free shipping both ways, etc. Actually they do not have a customer service phone listed and do not respond to emails to the service email address. I will avoid this vendor hereafter.

Wish I'd bothered researching before I purchased two items on this site. EXTREMELY slow shipping (4 weeks on one, 6 weeks and counting on the other - still no update). I also got the same email about "to better serve you, we're going to delete our entire customer service database" - WTF? This is clearly a site propped up by a bunch of highschool students - and if it's not, it sure as hell looks like one. The only good thing I can say - at least the stuff they sell is cheap, so you're not risking a bunch of money. Absolutely use Google Checkout if possible; I'm very glad these people don't have my CC#. This site is legit, but it's run so poorly it may as well be a scam.

First things first - ditch this bullshit.

"don't do it" outlines it pretty well. The customer service with this site is awful. I recently bought 4 webcams, each with a mic/headset combo and only received 2 of the mic/headsets. It has now been 8 days since I emailed their support team and not only is the issue still open, but I have yet to actually receive a human response. The closest thing to a response was an automated excuse that their support site "needed to be erased" so that they could fix the problems they were having.

Here's a few other highlights on why to avoid this site:

    - Terrible account management. You can't change your username or your email address and worst off, you can't delete your account!
    - The site isn't secure for purchasing. When I was in the shopping cart, I received a warning from both firefox and IE that it was not secure. I had to checkout with Google instead.
    - Takes forever for them to ship stuff and when it arrives, it looks like it was packed

(cont. from below) I asked for Frank since he is obviously the one in charge so I could tell him what a horrible job he is doing. Funny...Frank was in a meeting and couldn't be reached.

The NEW customer service guy is probably about as familiar dealing with customers as Frank is. It took him - no kidding - 9 minutes to even FIND my order. Then he launched into excuse after excuse about my order and especially about Frank AND then steered the conversation oddly to MY knowledge of business. ??????
Finally, he was able to figure out how to refund my paypal order and I thanked him and wished him luck. He told me he appreciated my "ferocity". I had to laugh at that because I am the least ferocious person I know. I corrected him and told him it was frustration. Then he asked me what was the first thing they should change at dillyeo and I thought "FRANK" but instead suggested they answer an email once in a while.
Go to woot.com instead. bigger, better, faster company doing the exact sam

You'll be sorry if you order from this sloppy, messed up organization. YOu will have to babysit the thing from start to finish, I guarantee you.
I ordered something from this boiler room company 10 days ago. The item was presented in an email they sent as a last chance item and I took that to mean they had boxes of the things to get rid of ASAP. NOT the case. A week had passed and still no item. I live in the same city as this company so you would think shipping would be instantaneous. I tried to find out something from the website only to find that my item was "ready to ship". ????? if it's ready to ship - SHIP IT ALREADY.
I called many many times. I emailed the address on the paypal receipt: frank@dillyeo.com many many times. No response. I was ready to call paypal, mastercard (the card I used to purchase the item) and the Illinois Attorney General's office to report a fraud when I thought I would give it one more try. I called and got a guy on the phone. I asked for Frank since h
