Dining at El Chico-Springfield, Missouri

A Pleasant Experience

El Chico located at 2639 S. Glenstone, Springfield, MO, 65804 is one of the few restaurants in Springfield we return to often.

During the dinner hour, customers can count on Manager Michael Easley to greet you at the door with a welcoming smile. No matter how much time may pass between visits to El Chico, we can count on Mr. Easley to remember us and immediately know our needs.

I think it must be as pleasant of a work environment as it is a pleasant dining experience. Turnover in servers is rare. We have developed a rapport with several servers over the years. Springfield is a college town and eventually some of the working students do leave making room for new staff.

We had such an experience last night. We were met at the door by Mr. Easley, seated by a friendly hostess, and met a new server.

Our server wearing a nametag that identified him as Rodney arrived promptly at our table with chips and salsa.

Since all six of our group often choose El Chico for a dinner outing, we were all ready to order. To my surprise, Rodney took our drink order and dinner order right away. He used no tablet to remind him of our order even though my husband and I placed a special order.

Exchanging knowing looks, my husband and I discussed the fact that we would be sending something back.

Rodney quickly returned with our drinks and placed them in front of the proper customers. He was amiable to the children, making sure they were as happy as the adults were. He seemed genuinely delighted to take the three-year-olds order.

When our food arrived, we were surprised that even the special orders were correct and all the food was placed in front of the proper customer.

My Fajita Burrito was filled with tender cuts of beef and beans, and topped with queso cheese.

Even the most attentive server can make a mistake from time to time. My daughter-in-law ordered cola. She enjoys lemon and took the lemon from our sons tea for her drink. When it came time for refills, tea was added atop her cola. I have to say, if this is the only error in a dinner for a party of six, then over all it is a pleasant experience.

As we leave, we can count on Mr. Easley to thank us for our visit and remind us to come again.

We find El Chico a clean, friendly atmosphere, the food delicious and the prices affordable.

El Chico of Springfield is conveniently located near shopping, making it an easy stop after a busy day.

I'd also like to say, "Rodney, welcome to the team. Good job."

Wow. I went to Drury for undergrad school... I think this may be the Mexican joint I was so fond of back then. Great chicken enchilladas.

Mr. Easley sounds like a gem! You don't get customized service like that at most restaurants.
